GAW 3.0.9 Changelog. Stability Stability oh Stability
Added 2018-08-28 05:30:20 +0000 UTCThe big theme for the changes recent have been around stability. We hadn't been doing a great job keeping the server up and running, so we dug in hard to find the root causes, and so far we've seen huge successes. If stability has been keeping you away, I invite you guys back to check it out again as we've been going pretty solidly now for several days and I foresee that continuing.
Another theme in this batch of changes is increasing the viability of people playing logistics, we buffed the enemy commander and we needed something to bring it back into balance, so on that note on to the changes!
- Removed AWACS detection for online GCI
This feature wasn't really giving us a lot of benefit and it was costing a lot of stability, so we simplified the model and just show all enemy aircraft now. Which is pretty inline to how LotAtc/spectator was working for us.
- Fixed respawns for support craft (AWACS/Tankers). They should now properly respawn after a short while (about 10 minutes) when shot down.
- Fixed an issue where Viggen players weren't getting Lat/Long for objectives
- Removed some "extras" from enemy units (flavor stuff like fuel trucks that weren't really adding to the group, but taxing the server)
- Decreased enemy CAS/SEAD firepower. Su25T's were basically wrecking whole Hawk sites in one pass which is pretty frustrating to the CTLD logistics players. They now have less HARM's and more things like Rockets. Should still be scary, but not life ending scary
- Decreased number of needed crates for Avenger sites from 3 to 1. Avengers aren't too powerful to start with, so it shouldn't take as much effort as it does to get them into play. Hopefully these changes will see players using avengers more often to provide close in support for Hawks or setup nasty ambushes for enemy fighters.
- Fixed bug where Hawk sites had 2 instead of 5 launchers on mission restart. Hawks need all the help they can get already. FFS.
- Reduced number of total advanced missiles/bombs, but increased resupply rate. These changes will hopefully see players trying varied loadouts without too strong of a nerf on their total firepower.
- Changed Enemy CAP from using MOOSE to find targets to giving them more general instructions with DCS'es built in tools. These changes take a LOT of tax off the system, and has the added side benefit of enemy frogfoot's attacking things that aren't located near friendly airbases.
- Made various changes to GCI export, Tacview, Lotatc, SLMod, and state saving to promote server stability. These changes were pretty sweeping, but overall players basically have the same experience with the tools around GAW but we've seen dramatic increases in server stability!
