Mainsail update 03-2023

This month we could finish the work on mainsail v2.5.0 and release it (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/releases/tag/v2.5.0). The release was also way too big again. Finally, we could integrate the WebRTC client because ayufanpl made much progress with his streamer. Kwadfan has already integrated it well into Crowsnest, and the streamer is already merged into the develop branch of Crowsnest. As soon as the streamer is ready, there will be a separate post with installation/update instructions.

Furthermore, we were able to finish the months of work on the new docs and publish them (https://docs.mainsail.xyz/). These will be expanded soon, which concerns the support of armbian images from MainsailOS with the handling of klipper (such as pinouts for ADXL, wifi settings, etc.).

Finished Tasks

We have merged the WebRTC webcam client. In the PR you can see how long we have been working on it (5 months) (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1275)
The HLS streamer got another improvement to get lower latencies (thanks, ericderace) (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1268)
Add a "power is swiched off" panel. So you can define a moonraker power device to turn on the printer. (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1254) (HowTo: https://docs.mainsail.xyz/overview/quicktips/printer-power-switch)
On the webcam page, the panel now adjusts to the height of the browser window. (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1246)
We added an option to disable the fan animation. This animation caused a lot of load in the browser for a few users. (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1232)
richardjm has made a PR that allows you to use a macro to colorize the Tx buttons in the extruder panel. (https://github.com/mainsail-crew/mainsail/pull/1244)
I had to improve the armbian build workflow for the base images we can use in the MainsailOS workflow.
Finally, some locale updates were contributed and merged before the release.

Current/Open Tasks

We are still testing the MainsailOS images for the OrangePi 3 LTS, 4 LTS, and zero2.
Plan the release and especially which feature requests we want to implement. In the following days, you should find a new milestone v2.6.0, on GitHub with the tasks for the next release.
