Mainsail update 01-2023
Added 2023-01-14 21:33:44 +0000 UTCFor this year, I plan to make Patreon-only posts every month to keep my/our supporters up to date with the current projects of the mainsail crew.
Current projects:
- We worked for months on a WebRTC streamer in Crowsnest and a WebRTC client in Mainsail. This will perform better with high-quality webcam streams. For example, this is a 1080p with 30 FPS stream with a 3DO nozzle cam with WebRTC in Mainsail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvIqRwILYQ0.
(The Nozzle cam will be available in the 3DO store in a few days. A big thank you to 3DO for the test samples for the mainsail crew!) - We merged a feature in Klipper last October to have an accurate slicer layer count in Mainsail (link to the Klipper PR: https://github.com/Klipper3d/klipper/pull/5726). This feature allows us to add a part in Mainsail to add a PAUSE or an M600 at the next/unique layer count.
- Another significant development is already very close to release of the extended support of raspberry pi alternatives from MainsailOS. We are currently working on OrangePI 3 LTS, OrangePI 4 LTS and OrangePI Zero 2.
More SBCs will follow this year (Mellow FlyPi/Gemini, Le Potato, Recore,...). - The Klipper command SCREW_TILT_AJUST has got a customised output in Mainsail.
- Currently, we have another PR open for Klipper. This PR will also allow us to integrate the Klipper host MCU into the new Moonraker structure. This location allows us also have multiple Klipper host MCUs. For example, we tested it with two BME280/680 sensors on the same raspberry but in two separate Klipper instances. (Link to the Klipper PR: https://github.com/Klipper3d/klipper/pull/5977)
- Furthermore, we are working on a new version of the mainsail docs. This version will be much more detailed and based on GitBook. This platform will allow us to quickly create FAQs for Klipper/Moonraker changes, and we will have more design possibilities on GitBook.
I have listed all the current, more significant projects. Of course, several minor features and fixes are also in the pipeline, but these would take too much time to list here.
I have planned my next Patreon-only update for February 14th and already saved it in the calendar. Please use the #onlysails channel on our discord if you have questions about features.
Happy printing, Sailors!
