UNCUT Moonlight Chicken Ep 5 Reaction

UNCUT Moonlight Chicken Ep 5 Reaction

God this episode... I still cried watching your reaction. The acting in this one just blew me away. The fight between Wen and Alan is so raw and hard to watch because it really hurts seeing them like that after the short glimpse of their happy longterm relationship. One thing that could explain why Wen fell out of love was the fact that during lockdown, they may have had to spend much more time together, uninterrupted and it might have led to realisations on Wen's part about his feelings fading for Allan... I agree, and I too would watch a serie about their relationship and how it all fell apart. It would be so devastating to watch but it would be great content too. And Mix and First did so good in this scene. Just wow, the emotions were perfectly portrayed. Same with the dinner scene by the end when Wen makes it clear it's really over. Not sure you noticed, but the waiter who comes to ask if he needs rekindle the flame (for their barbecue) is played by P'Aof (he loves maling cameos in all his series hehe) and the line is quite ironic, knowing Wen just killed that fire for good while Allan was still hoping... I get why Jim is ignoring Wen, he's protecting himself... Also, he probably feels like it's like his past relationship but this time Jim is the other man. But it's so clear in all their interaction, that Jim has deep feelings for Wen but he's also older, and he's been through a lot. With the way Leng teases him about not looking for his happiness, we see that Jim doesn't prioritize his love life. He had his nephew to take care of, his restaurant... And the situation with Allan and Wen is so complicated and messy. Like Gong said, Wen's new boyfriend propably wouldn't bear such a situation, knowing that Wen still lived with his ex, shared the same bed, still have sex... so messy. P'Aof said that Heart and Li Ming would heal our hearts with their story. So wholesome how you teared up at their cuteness, so relatable !! Love the scene with Wen as well, he clearly sses that these two are not just friends. Also, so thoughtful of Wen to do the countdown with his fingers so Heart understands and gets ready for each new picture. Heart trying to seakily take a selfie with Li Ming was the cutest thing ever, and Li Ming catching him and then suggesting they take pictures together. My heart!!! They're too precious!!! But they also have hard and sad moments. The scene with the parents was so moving. Gemini said that this was the hardest scene for him to film. He had to re-do it a fe times because he struggled with acting angry without the possibility of screaming. And for his first role, he acted to well in that scene. You can feel every emotion, it was such a moving and powerful scene. It must have felt like a wake up call for the mom to realise how much they've hurt their son. Again, when you think of the context of covid lockdown, of hos Heart was stuck inside with only his parents, and on top of that, they didn't learn sign language to communicate with him... it's so heartbreaking. When the mom has to ask Li Ming to translate, you just realise how much Li Ming has done in so little time of knowing Heart, compared to the parents who should have been the ones taking care of their son and doing everything for him to make his disability more bearable. A thing I can understand, from the mom's point of view, is that she probably believed that her son's life would become so difficult after becoming deaf. It's no excuse, of course, but as a mom she probably felt like her son had no future now, she wanted to protect him from the outside world. When Heart said "you know nothing" to his mom, that must have really hurt her, but it needed to be said... The scene after, when Heart breaks down in Li Ming's arms, so sad. And the way it's filmed when we see the reflection in the miror, with all the post its (from the parents) in cold blue light all around the room, and the only warm colours are where we see Heart and Li Ming hugging. We've seen that contrast in lighting a few times in the series (Jim and Wen scene in episode 2 on the staircase in warm light when behind it's in blue tones), it adds on the scenes and their meanings so perfectly. Top tier acting, top tier music and top tiear filmography for the entire series.

I love seeing how invested you are in this show and its characters!! it's so well written and acted, it really feels like we're just looking at real people living their lives and experiencing all its ups and downs and I love that. Heart's parents not knowing sign language is so sad, and unfortunately that's not uncommon in real life either. it definitely puts Heart's character more into perspective, especially with how he was in the earlier episodes of the show. it also makes it quite impressive though that Heart himself knows sign language since he most likely had to teach himself, and then teach Li Ming on top of that. something else I find heartbreaking with that scene though is that when the camera focuses on Heart and Li Ming hugging in the mirror at the end of the ep, you can see that Heart has put up SO many notes around the mirror edge and along the shelves... it's the notes he gets from his parents, which he treasures and keeps on display because that's the only form of communication he gets from them. ouch.
