Didn't know this was old information and how it stared . taking back what I said. My opinion on BL/GL was just simply boy love , girl love . not an adult /teen sexual way.

She said nothing about BL fans, they were talking about yaoi and what is considered BL comics. It was a reply to someone asking about explicit sex scenes “no explicit sex in this comic - the characters are teenagers so it’s just not appropriate…I wouldn’t describe this comic as yaoi or even BL - they’re genres of comic that tend to fetishize and eroticize queer men in a really bad way…” and they aren’t wrong about the comic genre. Notice how there’s nothing about BL fans or even BL shows.

2023-05-27 15:19:25 +0000 UTCI'm quite new to watching BL but this obviously depends on what you count as being included in the BL genre. I mostly watch Thai BLs (and GLs but that's not really relevant here) and there, pretty much anything that has a gay main couple is referred to as a BL. A lot of these, at least the more recent ones and the ones I have seen, are directed by queer people, mostly queer men but also some trans people, and a lot of them have really good representation, good stories, and discuss important queer topics. I understand that what you're talking about may have been how BLs started but saying that BL in general is just fetishising gay people I think is wrong as the definition has expanded and it seems a bit insulting to all the queer people working on these shows

Love the characters, main ones and side characters are all so goo, the gang in particular, can't wait for you to see them all interact together. Nick's comparison to a golden retriever reminds me of Bad Buddy fans comparing Pat as one too XD By the way, there are so many scenes in this show that may give you Bad Buddy flashbacks ;) The little animations add a little uniqueness to the show and it always works perfectly, it adds to the scene and it's not just to make it pretty. And it's a nice way to remind the viewer that the story is based from a comic, with the transitions like comics and the animations flying on the screen to depict the character's feelings. The soundtrack is really good, lots of great tune and not too overused either. I still listen a lot to one of the songs that played in a later episode because the scene was so meaningful. Tori, Charlie's sister, is one of my fave lol love her in the show and in the comics. I think the 25 minutes length is perfect for the show. I actually binged it when it came out on Netflix and so with short episode, it was quite fast to watch. They announced two more seasons and they recently released promo pictures for s2 :) Not sure when it'll air tough but maybe you won't have to wait too long after finishing s1. I'm really looking forward to the future reactions, from this episode reaction, I feel you're going to really enjoy the rest of the show.

The main characters are often adult men, Boys Love does not refer to love between young men/teenagers. BL fans usually fetishize gay people, that's the entire point of the genre, it's not about representation, it's about giving girls and young women hot guys to swoon over. Heartstopper is not BL although some people certainly treat it like that.

At first it was ok because maybe she she didn't understand the word BL . like ok no big deal she can learn but then she said BL fans are people who feitsh gay people😔

So excited for your journey with this! It’s one of the sweetest shows I’ve ever watched so it’s an easy watch. Also the short run time really works in its favor. And I love that the teens are played by teens too. I can only imagine the adults the US would have cast if they made this show. The Nick golden retriever comparison is my favorite thing. I can’t remember if it was in the comic or if it’s just a show thing but it’s so accurate.
