That's not actually true. There has always been a sort of BL series that always had better intimacy scenes. One of the biggest reasons for the odd kisses was that the actors for these series were minors all of the time. Also BL became a way to amass a large base of fans, as a way to launch a career in other industries; as an idol or as a solo singer. MaxTul have been in the industry a lot longer than the actors of tharntype too. Simply that the industry is larger, the audience is used to all these tropes and there are a lot more queer directors. So gradually intimacy and chemistry have become better. Now we're casting actors or at least singers that have been trained as actors.

Before TharnType kisses weren't very good, not only because of the actors' awkwardness but also because productions didn't allow them to be more intimate. The boom of TharnType with its high quality kisses and amazing chemistry between the main leads was a game changer and the industry`took note of it. The scene where Pharm slips in the way to the waterfall is a trope. The bottom boy is in some sort of danger and the top one rushes to protect him. And no underwater kiss! The budget wouldn't have been enough! LOL! Thank you so much, Liam!!
