Help me make your dream fantasy football tool
Added 2024-05-23 23:20:16 +0000 UTCHey all - starting Monday I'm taking 2 weeks off my 9-5 job to get some work into the fantasy football website that I quietly launched last season (over at https://hashtagfootball.com).
I've always seen this as the website that I need to get traction with (along with https://hashtagbasketball.com) in order to get close to being able to work on these websites full-time, so I'm pretty invested in trying to get it right for this upcoming season.
And this is where I need your help. Fantasy football is already such a big industry, and I'm looking for your help / suggestions / feedback on what you'd like to see on Hashtag Football this upcoming season.
So far, my ideas include:
Advanced player profiles including; season breakdown with advanced metrics, fantasy points by season (graph). consistency, boom, bust ratings, ADPs, game log filtering by opponent (including weather), averages broken down by target share, averages broken down by snap share, average vs team, injury history.
Crowdsourced fantasy football draft rankings.
The ability to create and maintain your own pre-season rankings, ability to add notes to players (basically a central spot for your personal research) and use them on the draft tracker or export them for offline use.
Season long and weekly accuracy challenges.
What would you like to see added? Please throw any suggestions at me in the replies of this post.
Chat soon,
Joey

Hey! The main issue with aggregating data is the licensing fees that comes with it. These are awesome ideas though. Your first suggestion is an idea I've been brewing up for a while where you can import historic leagues and it brings up the transaction and trade history for the league and evaluates past moves. I'll circle back to you when I eventually get started on it.

2024-05-29 00:01:42 +0000 UTCHey! I've had a few people asking about IDP leagues. I can source fantasy football projections from this website. Have you heard of them? And how do you rate their IDP projections? I can potentially build IDP tools based on their data. https://fantasydata.com/nfl/fantasy-football-weekly-projections?position=8&season=2024&seasontype=1&scope=1

2024-05-28 23:56:51 +0000 UTCIn terms of something that would set you apart, a dynasty 1) past trade evaluator; and 2) trade calculator aggregator would both be cool. 1) Dynasty leagues are fraught with people boasting bizarre valuations and it often leads to trades that defy logic. Dynasty being dynasty, sometimes those trades turn out playing out much differently than you think they would. It would be cool to look at trades based on valuations from a past date vs the value now. I think people would use the Hell out of that to both mess with their own heads and mess with their friends. 2) There are too many dynasty trade valuation tools. Dynasty League Football, Dynasty Trade Calculator, Keep/Trade/Cut, Dynasty Nerds, it goes on and on — and everyone is using one of them, or some combination of them. They are often very far apart in their valuations (particularly for draft picks). I would love a site that uses elements of all of the top valuation sites to come up with one evened out cocktail of valuation.

2024-05-24 12:56:18 +0000 UTCIndividual defensive players. I’m in a dynasty salary cap league with 35 man rosters and full defenses. The ratings out there are bleak and it’s even harder to valuate IDPs from a cash to cap perspective. A tool that let you plug in the league rules and spit out values based on projections would be next level.

2024-05-24 04:26:20 +0000 UTCA trade finder would really come in handy. FantasyPros has one but kinda sucks with positional value. I'm in a 20 team PPR return yardage league with 3 keepers per year for a max 3 years. So RBs are worth a lot more than they would be in a 12 teamer. It can also be pretty tiring on the eyes to go through each team looking for possible deals.

2024-05-24 00:12:05 +0000 UTCHey Joey! Love the project and the way the sites are set up for all of the sports. This might be a niche ask, but I'm in a 4 Sport Dynasty League where players and re-draft picks can be traded across sports. Oftentimes it can be cumbersome to go to one screen/site for a player's current position ranking, another for their most updated dynasty ranking, and another for their age (across each sport). I'm not suggesting a cross-sport platform, but maybe those details could be tacked onto that "My Players" page you were thinking about?
