Moving Onwards and Upwards!

With the completion of the chapter 1 Alpha, The Goat Escape, we are now moving onto Chapter 2, Chances with Wolves! 

Before we get stuck into the meat of chapter 2, lets talk playable builds.  I am still on the fence about releasing chapter 1 in its current state. We have lots of ideas on how to fix the pacing issues, but need to move onto chapter 2 to make sure we don't fall behind on important milestones. Our goal is to have Chapter 2 complete by Christmas, then spend the last month before our milestone (at the end of January) polishing both chapters.

I'm worried about allowing players to experience a rough version of the story with spoilers. Learning the end chapter spoilers without the correct pacing doesn't sit right with me. However, I am thinking that we could simply cap the story instead so that you can at least bounce around and talk to people, as you have all been very patient with us! I'd like to get this out in the next week or so, just need to decide where to cap things, but it will most likely be capped before the end of Act 1 (there are 3 acts in a chapter)

 I'd like to add that if anyone has previously pledged November/December with the expectation of this upcoming build please message and I will refund you! This is seriously not an issue, so please don't be afraid to reach out <3 


Lets get to the fun stuff! 

Lets start with Chapter 1, we've been working through some assets! One of the things I'd love to polish about Chapter 1 is allowing for more discoverable islands and option secrets/dungeons.

Dutch Dance Battle

As we're working on Chapter 2 we're working Dutch's song first! It requires a lot of dancing...

The gameplay will be similar to DDR, requiring the player to press keys to the beat of the song, along with some Simon says based gameplay. We will also be experimenting with some small boss mechanics, making Billie move around the stage and avoid hazards

I'd like Dutch to have unique outfits during these segments as the music genre swaps between Disco to tap to breakdancing, but that is currently not a priority. 

A look at the intro cinematic for this song, Hayes confuses Billie for someone else and places her on stage with Dutch. Can Billie fake it till they make it? 


Barnaby

Lets talk about Barnaby for a bit! He's had lots of fancy animations made. His second song is also ready and it sounds amazing!

Fantoccio Song?

We're now starting the next song, a Fantoccio song! Yes we've hit the start of Chapter 4 in terms of songs (woo hoo!) That's 10 songs in total now. We're starting out with our first Fantoccio song, this song comes before "I've had enough of you" and focuses on some of Fantoccios backstory, and feelings regarding isolation.  Despite the heavy topic we expect it to be quite upbeat 

The gameplay is inspired by warioware and Rhythm heaven gameplay swapping between small mini games that take inspiration from previous song segments.

Then lets end at a looksee at Fantoccios best friends :) but the less you know about them the better!

I love how musical and whimsical the whole concept of this game/story is. And I LOVE this dance battle aspect. Dutch REALLY has some moves going on. Keep up the great work, y'all! <3
