Billie Build - Prologue now Live!

That’s right, the new build is ready to go!

Before we start, I've been delaying uploading the Prologue out of personal anxiety about the current quality (even if it IS an Alpha build of the game I have pretty high standards for my work). I intended to make some changes to the Prologue first before making it public, however, I think I need some personal time away from the Prologue build to come back with fresh eyes. Sam is currently doing a pass to the Prologue and I’m currently doing a pass on his block out for Dutch’s hub. We’ve gotten into a rhythm of passing levels back and forth between us, which helps with burn out!

So before you play, please keep a few things in mind

• Almost all voice acting in this is scratch audio and is by us, the developers. You may hear us laughing, being silly, or giving weird deliveries for the lines. My voice acting as Billie is pretty cringey! We also do not have a sound designer yet, so the audio levels may be a bit weird and all over the place!
• Soundtrack is temporary, except for “Adventure”
• Sound effects are temporary, and also a tad annoying! These are placeholders and will be made custom by an actual sound designer when the time comes. They are only there for testing purposes.
• The story will be changed, along with some of the storyboards and some of the dialogue. For example, Arthurs journal will now be written by Aristotle instead, but this is currently presented as Arthurs journal
• The tutorial does not work currently but can be selected from the menu, we are patching this now, we had a few issues with FMOD making the songs buggy. Check the trello to see when this has been fixed

If you find any bugs that are not currently listed in the Trello, please let us know via the discord. 

Please try to make sure the bug has not been listed on the trello before reporting it. The testing chat seems to have a lot of repeated bug reports which can make tracking harder for us, thank you! (We won't be mad if you do accidentally repeat a bug report btw! It's super appreciated you want to help us out) 

A final reminder to take this build with a grain of salt, things will drastically change during development, see this more as a behind the scenes preview than a final representation of the game. It might be fun to see how far we’ve come with the full release of the game and compare <3

PATREON BUILD FAQ

How do I gain access to new/most recent builds?

While we typically post instructions for how to gain access to builds when they become available, below is a quick guide on how/what to do:

1. DM the Billie Bust Up Patreon asking for a beta key. We are guaranteed to respond on Mondays and Fridays.

2. Input that code into Steam's option for inputting game codes. (Easy enough to search up online if you're lost!)

3. You should now have a second Billie Bust Up in your Steam library, but right now, it'll only be the Fantoccio fight. After that, right-click the game in the Steam library menu, go to Properties, and go to the Betas menu.

4. Type in one of the beta codes found on posts on Patreon and select the unlocked build via the dropdown menu. Your build will now start downloading an update and will be ready to play!

I can't find the Betas tab on my copy of the build! Help!

You're more than likely trying to input the code on the demo version of the game that had Fantoccio's Fight on it.

You need to make sure you've inputted the beta key, provided to you via Patreon DMs, and that you're attempting to access the Beta tab on that version of the game. If you try to find a Betas tab on the steam demo version of the game, you will only find frustration.

When will I receive my steam key via Patreon? How often do you respond to Patreon DMs?*

We are guaranteed to check Patreon DMs every Monday and Friday, unless there is a holiday in which we will check on Tuesday or Thursday respectively.

NOTE: We do not check Patreon DMs on the weekends! We understand folks may be eager to gain access to new builds but please be patient, we promise to get to you once the work week starts back up!
