CAN I GET YOUR OPINION?

I've got a new novel coming out next month. It's a post-apocalyptic steampunk western, set in the world of Abney Park's Airship Pirates.

I've done two different treatments for the cover/posters. On is sort of "vintage western novel" styled, and the other is "modern movie thrilled" styled.

So here's where I need your opinion:

1. Which do you think is more likely to make you want to read this?
2. How often do you read books? (audio books count)

CAN I GET YOUR OPINION? CAN I GET YOUR OPINION?

Vintage western here.

Lisa Bearsley

I'm going with the Vintage Western. Splice in Ranch Hand Robbie and some of the songs from Wasteland and you have a album mix as well. I read a bunch and better get started on your work.

Sam

I like the first one. The second is too movie poster-esque for me.

Both look amazing,i like the old fashioned western one best but theres not much between them. Im not much of a book reader due to really poor eyesight, therefore i listen to a lot of audio books,i like the ones where the author reads them, you get a real feel of the emotions. Are audio books something that Abney Park would consider releasing ?

John Smith

Vintage western. The other one looks like if Denzel Washington was the tin man, too Spooky. I read e-books all the time, usually about 1 a week

Antigone Azrael

Definitely like the vintage western look better.

Curtis Potterveld

Love the steampunk cowboy look. I would pick-up the book with that cover

The genre is right and believe it or not since you wrote it I'm curious. I don't read books often probably got a stack of 10-15 books to ready. Lately been a fan of audiobooks.

Micheal R Meyer

I like the western one better. I read about a book a week along with a magazine a week, split between history, historical fiction, and sci fi.

David Newport

I choose the vintage one. I read a lot, including audiobooks, but mostly non-fiction. Memoirs and diaries, history books, scientific studies and reports. Somehow it turns out that I read fiction books only on exceptional occasions.

Pavel Kumeysha

I'm more drawn to the vintage western style. I read a lot! Usually I prefer to read a physical book, and i try to borrow from the public library to avoid running out of space to live in my house. I will read the occasional ebook, though, if that's the easiest way to get a book.

Carrie Brady

I prefer the first; vintage style. I read (or listen) to various fiction almost every day. I only hoard the books in my head. No space in the house.

Deet Wagner

Prefer the old-style Western. I work part time at the local library; I read lots of books. Many many many books. I am a book hoarder.

Hollis Curtis Perdan

If you want to show the Western theme of the novel, go with #1. I try to read or listen to (audio) novels more, but time concerns, podcasts, magazines, RPGs and other stuff are my nemesis.

Ralf Sandfuchs

I like the Airship-In-The-Background theme better. I'm backed up 6 books now but I'll still buy what's released.

Michael Murphy

I have to admit I like the first one the best.

Ed Mattison

Absolutely the western looking one. I don't read as often as I'd like as I'm a slow reader

Dave Miller

Big reader here, it swings between a book a day to a book a month depending on how busy my seasonal job is :) I would pick up and consider the western cover with the full body and background, the half-face I'd probably pass by except I know Abney Park XD Funny tho, I was just moaning a bit lately over how cover fads have been trending towards just random shapes and colours.

Jennifer Kohler

I like the western style cover best. I currently listen to audiobooks probably 6+ hours a day. Walking dog, in the car, household chores etc. I only read actual text books occasionally now.

Angela Deane

Love the full body shot with the airship in the background. Will definitely pick it up 8]

eric hughes

I like the vintage one. And I read books every dang day

Julian Neal

I also like the vintage western novel one best, the other one seems ... flat to me? I'm already curious about the first one. And I read a lot. Frustrated with myself that the buyline of the book is FIFTH in the series!? I am behind!

CARRIE DAVIS

I like the first one the best β€” reminiscent of the old west w. steampunk overtones

Jim Folsom

I think the second one has more of an air of mystery.

Jacob Skalberg

I like the poster version best. I read pretty much every day and typically read a book every two days to a week.

David Lee Summers

The first cover made want to read it right now. I listen to audiobooks pretty much every day as I drive home or running errands on the weekend. I also read for about 2-4 hours a week

Philip Stevens

I’m liking the second one best, darker and more broody, seems to fit better. But, I’ve been wrong before πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€£

Andy W Marsden

I like the vintage look. Reminds me of the old Heinlein and Asimov books. I don't read as much as I used to, but listen to audiobooks all the time.
