Can Pokemon into Naruto?
Chapter 37
-VB-
Peace.
Which meant more training.
More healing.
More learning.
More experimenting.
Today, I was facing off against an opponent who I could not touch.
It was none other than my “firstborn,” Robute the Claydol.
His lazily half-lidded eyes spun before locking onto me, and he unleashed a crushing psychic pressure.
I almost immediately sunk a few centimeters into the dirt but I held my ground. I gritted my teeth as he continued to press down on me.
And that’s when Cleo jumped into the clearing.
“COMB!” she shrieked and threw her signature Double Kick.
I moved with my bokken.
I struck out and caught her first kick and slid her kick away from me before she had even finished the kick.
But Cleo also responded to my defense with a feint.
Her Double Kick had been a feint!
It wasn’t anymore.
My eyes widened when her feet flared up in the signature of a Blaze Kick. Then she went for a real kick.
I didn’t disengage.
Instead, I coated my wooden training sword with my aura and pushed her away.
The fire tried to burn my wooden sword but failed, and Cleo flung backward along with the push of my sword and the explosion of her Blaze Kick. She glanced at me while she was briefly in the air. She must have seen something because as soon as she landed, she blitzed toward me with Quick Attack.
Quick Attack, if not mastered, only allowed a direct movement and an attack or a flexible movement and no attack. If mastered, however, it could allow both flexible movement and an attack.
Cleo had not yet mastered it, and she knew it, too.
So she charged.
I flared my aura and brought it together and struck.
Cleo pulled her claws back and slashed.
My aura-coated bokken clacked loudly against her own aura-coated claws in its Slash move and … broke.
“Enough.”
Robute, Cleo, and I all stopped, and I let out a sigh of relief when the constant pressure on my shoulder of a psychic-gravity mix loosened and then disappeared.
I turned to look at Gedanii-sensei, the samurai warrior left behind by Tokudaiji-sama. I called him with the honorific in my head because if I “dishonored” Gedanii-sensei’s noble charge in front of him, that was a one way ticket to a lot of beating. Because Gedanii-sensei can beat my ass, even if he would be wiped out by the attempt. So by thinking of it in my head, I was hoping that it would become a habit.
“You should have waited for her attack to miss you and then strike when she is vulnerable,” my samurai teacher chided. “What is rule 3 of swordsmanship?”
“‘Let your opponent expose themselves,’” I dutifully replied.
“Yes. Your … child,” he said, still finding it odd that I referred to non-human beings as my family. “Is hotheaded. You know that she would have exposed herself sooner or later without any feint.”
“Yeah,” I sighed.
He grunted. “At least you know then. Then get it through that dense skull of yours to do as you know what is best.”
“... Hai.”
“And you, Cleopatra.”
For some reason, Gedanii-sensei refused to call any of my Pokemon by their shortened names or nicknames. Cleo didn’t like Gedanii and the way he said her full name didn’t make her like him more.
But sensei didn’t care.
Sensei wanted Cleo to be strong enough to not need his presence in the village.
“You are too headstrong. Too arrogant in your ability. You’ve fought your … father before,” he stressed the “before.” “And yet, you still rush in head first expecting a different? Are you daft? Are you stupid? Are you insane?” he snapped out.
Cleo bristled.
“I don’t care for what you feel about what I say,” Gedanii-sensei glared. “If you care about the safety of your family, then you will adjust your attitude in battles of arms and minds! If not, then you are arrogant enough to think that you are strong enough to defend your family and village when you can’t even beat your older brother.”
Then he turned to look at Robute.
“... I do not know how you use your abilities. I can understand Cleopatra because she fights somewhat like brutish ninjas and samurais. I can teach kendo to your father. But your ability with the mind and the like is beyond me. But you have kept to my instruction and showed me your limits, helped me test it, and then pushed beyond your own limits. If only your sister was like you…”
Cleo’s bristling reached its peak. She looked halfway ready to attack Gedanii-sensei.
But she couldn’t beat him. She’d tried before in spars. He was simply too experienced and powerful enough that even though Cleo can overpower any single attack he can muster, Gedanii-sensei can and have woven weaker attacks, feints, dodges, and parries into a chain of lightning assault that left Cleo defeated.
I quickly pulled her into my embrace and held her in my arms.
She froze and went slightly limp but didn’t give up on her glare.
Sensei hummed. “Both you and Cleopatra,” he began, pointing at me. “Ten li run. Robute, add another boulder to your max load.”
And just like that, we were back to training.

“Hokage-sama.”
Saruoti nodded. “Jounin Yuhi,” he greeted her. “I have another mission for you. I hope you are still familiar with the Village by the Sea Mountain?”
She blinked.
How could she not? She ran into a variety of chakra animals under a healer’s care. It was one of her more bizarre experiences.
“Hai.”
“Good. I am sending you back there to ask the healer there if he is willing to move to Konohagakure,” he said. “We are more than happy to compensate him for the move and a higher wage than whatever it is that he is getting paid out there in the rural countryside.”
“... I do not believe he would be amenable to a move, Hokage-sama,” she replied honestly. “But I shall do my best to convey your wish.”
Sarutobi blinked. “Why not? Is he attached to the village?”
“It is my firm belief that the Healer of Sea Mountain does not care about wealth.”
That made him pause. “Is he out there to be a healer for the poor and the needy?” he hummed. “If he is that kind of a person, then he definitely would not be amenable to being hired by us. But we can still ask him and why he would refuse us.”
“Understood, Hokage-sama,” she bowed and left his office when he wordlessly dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

Koko.
That was his name.
Koko the Bear.
Well, he knew that he wasn’t a “bear” but a Teddiursa!
But his friend didn’t quite know that. Or remember it. His friend was just happy to have him.
And for that, Koko was satisfied.
“It’s another great day, Koko!” Kan laughed as he walked up to the sandy sparring ring.
“Krruuu!”
Kan was fat when Koko first met him, but he’s gotten a little slimmer since.
“Today…” his friend grinned before tossing his clothes away, leaving him with just pants. “We exercise as well!”
“Krruuu!”

A/N: transitional chapter-ish.

It'd be hilarious if Pokemon tamed the Naruto world a bit.
