“Grrr, this, this shirt won’t fit me. Can’t they size a blasted thing in Taiwan?”

Cass tossed the stained shirt on her bed, letting it join the other discarded clothes she’d already gone through while trying to get ready for work. She had been going through this ordeal for over twenty minutes, picking out as many tops she could find to see if one would fit her bulbous body. So far, that had proved to be an impossible task.

Cass grumbled and picked up her phone, texting Pamela to let her know she’d be late. After only a few moments, she got her response, which was filled with typos and what looked to be “chewing noises” typed out.

“Must be using the voice recognition software. Her fat fingers can’t text anyway”, Cass thought, not even registering how ironic it was as she struggled to send a text with her own bloated appendages.

Cass knew she had gained weight, that was impossible to deny. Hell, she knew it was a lot at this point. What she was denying, however, was that it was a problem, or, more importantly, that she could get things under control. She would always tell herself that she was a former track star and someone who had won the “Mango Fitness Star of the Month” eight times, there was no way she couldn’t shed these troublesome pounds once she was properly situated at work. There was no way she’d be like the other fatties there, no sir!

Of course, if one watched the bird during the day, they knew all this talk and long winded explanations were just that, talk. Cass hadn’t gone to the gym in months and the dreaded 300 pound mark had given way to 400 pounds (actually 408 if she got on the scale), and that number was only rising. Nothing she owned prior to getting a job at Gluttco fit, which was causing a few problems. She was constantly straining buttons on blouses, exerting too much pressure for her pants, and most of her shoes couldn’t go around her blubbery feet.

Thankfully, Pamela had informed her that Gluttco also was doing clothing and could ship things to her for free since she was an employee. The store didn’t have size labels, they just had generic styles. By this point, Cass didn’t care, she just wanted something that fit. She ordered a few new outfits, hoping they would do the trick.

To her relief, they did as the material used for the articles of clothing were very forgiving and breathable, making her much more comfortable than she had been. It also made her not worry about exploding out of her pants, which meant she didn’t have to take it easy when going to lunch. Or during snack time. It made her relax slightly, which only meant she was eating more than usual, which was saying something.

Those same clothes though, which had been so roomy when she first purchased them, were now much too small. She had barely gotten her pants on past her gelatinous thighs and fat swaddled hips, only for her to find that she had no hopes of buttoning them. She knew however that this wouldn’t be too bad, the shirts were baggy enough to cover that up. That of course was before she began trying shirts on, only to find that NONE of them would fit at all, and the ones that did were unable to be buttoned. No matter how many food stained items she put on, nothing would close or get past her jiggling biceps. It was essentially hopeless.

That was when she saw her “hangout shirt” on the floor. She assumed it would be something casual she could wear if she went out or did anything.  All she ended up doing, however, was wearing it around her apartment and plastering her enlarged rear on her couch and stuffing her face with it on, spilling bits of food and sauces on it as she did. She never intended on wearing it to work, but, it didn’t look like she’d have much of a choice. Gritting her teeth, she lifted the unwashed shirt and put it over her head and slipped her arms into the sleeves. It was a little snug for sure, but it fit.

For the first time, Cass was no longer going to be much more well dressed than any of the other employees at the office.

“I’ll, I’ll just get new clothes later. Just a minor set back.”
