Hey everyone. Here is the next part in the story. Hope you all enjoy.

The cool air blew through the streets of Creede as Cassie made her way around the small town. There were only 400 people in the entire town so everyone seemed to know everyone. They all constantly tried saying hello to her, but she usually just brushed them off. Even when she ran around town, she always had a bad look on her face, which while scary, didn’t dissuade anyone from trying to be polite. She was still miserable since the gym shut down, and she didn’t care if everyone knew it. If it was up to her, she’d be taking all of these lardies running with her, just to see them nearly pass out in the hard air.
It had been a week since she spoke to Kay and almost four weeks since she had moved into town, and she had come to a crossroads. She had no job, her saving funds were drying up, and she really had no options on what she could do about it. She could probably put together just enough money to go back to Austin, but after that it would be dicey. She had left her hometown of Glendale, Arizona, right after she turned 18, going to the University of Austin and vowed to never look back. That meant asking her dad or brother for help was out of the question.
She also couldn’t go back to the spa. She had called them the same day she was informed that the gym job she expected wouldn’t come through, but even there she was re-buffed. They told her that all the spots for trainers were booked through December and that she’d have to call back in January. It seemed that nothing was going right.
To make matters worse, when she called Kay, the portly skunk apologized and then offered a “degrading” solution; a solution that seemed so beneath Cassie that she barely kept her cool on the phone. Kay was good friends with the owner of the town’s all you can eat buffet, “Creede Hometown Buffet”. Kay told her that the pay would probably be really good as Annette Bartanello, the owner, was in dire need of help. It might not be as glamourous as the gym job, but it could tide her over for a bit until she could leave.
Cassie had told Kay she’d call her back, but that hadn’t been the case. Even when she did call back, she didn’t do it with much enthusiasm. Even now, as she stood in front of the eatery, she didn’t know if she would go in or not. Just looking inside and seeing all the obese people in there stuffing their faces made her fur crawl. Working at such an establishment dedicated to gluttony was the antithesis of all she had done in her life up to that point. She wanted to turn and run away.
Then, when she saw the sign, she saw how much it paid; $25 bucks an hour. Cassie couldn’t believe this place was able to afford that amount. Still, the idea of banking about 4k a month before taxes, with next to no living expense, meant to her that she could stock up on her proteins and other items, build up her bank account, and then go back to the spa next year with a flush wallet and the resources to get situated properly, even if the spa didn’t take her back full time. In the end, she knew what she had to do.
“Maybe I can even get some of the fatties who eat here to take classes with me on the side. Keep my mind sharp and the money flowing.”
With that, she took the hands out of her hoodie and walked inside.
