“Yeah, yeah. I needed the job, alright? Dancing won ‘t pay for itself, or apparently a fitting uniform”, Gina complained to a new coworker.

It was her second day at her new job as a mall security guard and she hated it already. Not only was it a dull job, but the uniforms they had did not come in anything smaller than a large, forcing her to be absolutely swimming in hers. Add to that, all of her coworkers were blobs, the smallest being a sloth who weighed 250 pounds. Everyone else had clearly surpassed the 400 pound mark.

It had been a depressing past two months for Gina. First, her gym just up and folded one day, explaining that due to the rise in specialty gyms, yoga studios, and cycling facilities, not to mention home workout programs, that they were folding up. She was hurt by the suddenness but, figured she’d be back on her feet in no time.

She applied for job after job but each place told her they were already at full capacity. She was running out of options when she went to the mall again and saw the “now hiring, security guards” sign. She had really wanted to wait it out but her bills were piling up and she needed the money. So, with her head low, she went in and applied.

The pay was more than what she got at the gym, but the hours were all over the place and it was messing with her sleep schedule. She found herself tired when she used to be wide awake and energetic when she would have been sleeping. It threw her completely out of whack and most days she found herself lacking the strength to even think about working out, let alone performing one. So, she instead found that her walks around the mall would have to be enough. It wasn’t like she was eating more anyway.

“Better go to Dunkin, I need another cup of coffee”, she muttered to herself as she exited the employee area.
