Unfocused, since planning things isn't my greatest strength, but I have some stuff in the works already that I'm sure will be enjoyed.
Geared towards modeling, of course, since that's really where I find the most enjoyment.
Material updates! I'm finally on 4.0 and the changes to SSS kind of piss me off, but it's never looked better so even though it breaks my my models visually, it's worth it. Minotaur, Orcine, Anubis, Sangheili and Skirmisher have had their SSS values adjusted, as well as removed some unnecessary nodes in the materials.
Sangheili and Skirm are being re-rigged with ARP. They were my first custom rig job, and a surprisingly successful attempt, but I'm by no means experienced with that sort of thing and ARP has just been so consistently good that I don't want to do it all manually.
I'll have some more renders with the updated models soon, so far all I have is a Sangheili proving he can do what all penis havers wish they could.
Need to test it more, but I think blender still calculates normals wrong, fundamentally. Hard to explain what's broken about it, but it tends to invert deep crevices, like under the pecs or butt cheeks. It also breaks along UV seams, causing artifacting. Inverting the green channel with an RGB curves node fixes it. I'll do some before and after to show what I mean, but it's been the bane of my existence. Thankfully I found the fix, but I never knew why my normal looked like shit until I knew how to fix them.
Ranting about normals aside, let's hope 2024 is a better year than 2023!
