Weekly report Dec 1/4, 2024

Hello everyone! Thank you as always for your support.
Let's take a look at this week's progress!

#Order for Printing

Last week, I completed the manuscript for the comic, but the printing company I initially planned to order from informed me they couldn’t accommodate the specified conditions.
The key issue was the printing color. Standard color printing uses CMYK colors, which tend to look a bit duller in print compared to how they appear on a computer screen.
I regretted this greatly in the book I created last year, so this year, I aimed to place an order for wide-gamut printing that produces colors closer to the original data.

I canceled the initial order and looked for another printing company. I found one that met all the requirements and was even cheaper than the first company.
Fatefully, the submission deadline to meet the event schedule was noon that same day.
(Printing companies for doujinshi typically have submission deadlines tied to specific events.)
I decided immediately, confirmed with them over the phone, and submitted the manuscript right away.

Afterward, the company requested several corrections to the manuscript, which I addressed promptly. As of now, the printing is proceeding smoothly.

Later, the original company called back and said they could handle the job after all, but since I had already placed the order elsewhere, I declined.
However, I plan to ask them to print the flyers instead.

With the biggest task for the event completed, I can safely return to adjusting Hellversus.

Or so I thought.

#Gachapon

Last week, I wrote about giving up on a gachapon project.
But I couldn’t let go of my dream of creating gachapon.

Initially, I planned to use rubber straps as prizes.
Since their production costs are high, I would have needed to prepare over 1,000 pieces to amortize the expense. Additionally, distributing that many pieces within the event timeframe would have required multiple gachapon machines.
These machines are typically designed to be placed on the ground, but event regulations only allow items to be distributed from tabletop spaces. As a result, the machines were rejected by the event organizers.
That’s where I left off last week.

However, I wondered if reducing the number of items and using lower-cost prizes could allow distribution from a single tabletop gachapon machine.
Acrylic stands can be produced much more affordably than rubber straps.
After confirming costs with a related company over the phone, I realized the plan was feasible.

I became strongly inclined to revive the gachapon project and began working on it.

Six designs were needed. Five were already available, but I had to create one new design from scratch.
I quickly created the additional design, but upon reviewing the remaining five, I found many rough details that required adjustments.

Here is the completed data for the acrylic stands. One of them is a secret design.
(Those ranked Inferno or higher will get a sneak peek!)
I am currently finalizing details with the manufacturer.

#Apologies

The delays in Hellversus development are largely due to my frequent diversions.
One major regret this year is that I introduced a new tier called Mortal and committed to drawing a monthly comic. This turned out to be a greater burden than expected.

Once I finish this month’s comic, I regretfully plan to discontinue the Mortal tier and focus exclusively on developing Hellversus.

I’m sure readers here are aware of all the side projects I’ve been working on weekly, but I’ve seen comments on Discord and social media suggesting that development is on hold.
(It’s true that development halts during event preparations—sorry!)
Since programming is the primary focus now, there isn’t much to share on social media, and some comics are only released on Patreon, which contributes to that perception.

Discontinuing the monthly comic will likely increase such comments, and I admit they affect me emotionally.
Please keep cheering me on!

#Next Week’s Plans

That's all for this week. Thanks to everyone's support, we can continue development! Much appreciation.
Have a great weekend!
