Weekly report Oct 2/4, 2024

Hello everyone! Thank you as always for your support.
Let's take a look at this week's progress!

From now on, I will update the demo as frequently as possible, aiming for weekly updates.

Please play the game, and if you encounter any issues, report them on Discord. It will greatly assist in development.

This week, I made it possible to actually manipulate the AD Gauge.

The simultaneous button press implementation went more smoothly than expected.

# D Gauge

This is related to defense.

It decreases each time you guard an attack, and when it runs out, you enter a "Danger" state.

In this state, you cannot guard against attacks, and you will be forced into a counter-hit.

The D Gauge also decreases when you use the Guard Reversal, which will be explained later.

Even if you have less than one gauge left, you can still use it, but you will enter the Danger state.

In this demo, I've significantly increased the amount of D Gauge reduction during blocks to make the gauge properties easier to test.

The gauge will automatically recover gradually after a set amount of time passes after a guard or a hit.

In the Danger state, recovery takes much longer, but if you endure it, the gauge will fully recover.

# Guard Reversal

Command: Press B + C while blocking

This is the only counterattack available while blocking. If it hits, it will knock the opponent away, resetting the situation.

Normally, if the opponent predicts this attack, you should be put in a disadvantageous situation, but this hasn't been implemented yet.

Also, the animation currently uses a placeholder attack from another move.

# Destruction Attack

Command: Press A + D

This is a powerful attack that consumes one A Gauge.

If the opponent guards, they will enter a Guard Break state, making them unable to counterattack.

It also gives you a significant frame advantage, allowing you to shake up the opponent’s guard choices.

If it hits, the opponent will collapse to their knees, allowing for a follow-up attack.

The animation currently uses a placeholder from another special move.

# System Messages

It’s a small detail, but I added messages that appear on the sides of the screen to help players better understand the game situation.

Messages will appear in the following situations:

- FATAL COUNTER

- COUNTER

- GUARD REVERSAL

- GUARD BREAK

- THROW TECH

# Animations and Visual Effects

This week, I implemented the bare minimum for the A and D gauges.

To enhance the game's excitement, I'd like to add animations and effects, but I plan to work on the visual elements collectively in November.
