Hello everyone! Thank you as always for your support.
Let's take a look at this week's progress!
# GGPO Negotiations
To summarize, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to secure staff to implement GGPO.
One of the people I spoke with is a veteran programmer with over 10 years of experience. I played his GGPO demo, and despite the long distance between Japan and the U.S., the matchmaking was impressively smooth. I was eager to have him join the project, but leveraging skilled talent requires significant funding. Sadly, he wasn’t able to join right away. However, he expressed strong interest in the project, so there may be an opportunity to negotiate again in the future.
One key takeaway from our conversation was that even for someone with his level of experience, it took six months of full-time work to implement GGPO. If I tried to do the same, it would likely take two to three years. Implementing it on my own is no longer realistic. It seems the best course of action is to refine the current version for the crowdfunding demo.

That said, I may need to consider using Universal Fighting Engine 2 as a last resort. This is a paid fighting game library for Unity, but I had ruled it out due to concerns that its comprehensive features might limit the customization and expression I’m aiming for. However, the fact that it already has online matchmaking makes it quite appealing in my current situation. Implementing online functionality is undoubtedly the most challenging aspect. It’s a bit pricey, so I might seek financial support through Patreon.
