Weekly report Dec-4, 2023

Hello, everyone! Now, let's take a look at this week's progress!

Comic Work

I drew a short manga scheduled for release in January. Due to Cerberus, the amount of work increased, and it took more time than expected. It's finally complete, and those at the Inferno tier and above can view it here.

Overseas Shipping Preparation

By using the service called "booth," I can simply deposit the items at a designated warehouse, and they handle the packaging and shipping. After confirming the usage regulations of this convenient system and formally requesting its use, I received a response stating that it's over the quantity limit. Upon double-checking, it turned out not to be over the limit, and they will accept the items as planned. I'm not sure what happened there.

Initially, I planned to have the printed books delivered to my home, but I decided to have them sent directly to the warehouse. However, the printing company informed me that they can't individually pack each item. After rechecking the warehouse rules, as I couldn't find such a provision, I requested to simply enclose a specified sheet for each cardboard box. If any issues arise with this method, I might end up with the books returned to my home, and I'll have to manually pack each one. Well, it should be okay!

Download Card Ordering

I had been under the impression that ordering the download cards for distributing Helversus's demo by the 22nd would be sufficient. However, having a bad feeling about it, I double-checked the rules and found out that the delivery date is about 2 days earlier than I had anticipated. If I ordered on the 22nd, the cost would be significantly higher. For some reason, the price increases by 10,000 to 100,000 yen each day. Feeling rushed, I changed my initial plan and prioritized progressing with the download cards. Fortunately, the data itself can be updated on the specified server until the last minute. So, I decided to postpone game adjustments and order the cards first. If I had noticed this earlier, I could have saved a bit more money, but it's better than further delays. Since the cards cannot be received at the event venue, I'll be receiving them at home two days before the event.

Flyer Creation

To add a bit more flair than just handing out download cards, I decided to create a printed instruction manual. While there was an option to attach a backing to the download card, doing the gluing work myself or having it done for me would increase the cost. Therefore, I opted to include a flyer with the set. The front side features a group illustration of Helltaker characters in a mini-poster style, and the back side is designed like an instruction card from an old arcade game. Since this is an event held in Japan, all text is in Japanese.

As a bonus for those at the Inferno tier and above, I'll release it

I also ordered a poster in A2 size to attract attention at the event venue.

Menu Image Creation

I'm not sure if overseas comic events do the same, but in Japanese doujin events, there's a custom of creating menu images for the products you'll be exhibiting. I thought it would be easy, but it turned out to be quite challenging as it involves the same design work as advertising. I plan to post this as an advertisement on Twitter just before the event.

Acknowledgment

I thought I could work on the game this week, but there was a massive amount of preparation and things to arrange than expected, and I couldn't get around to it.

I'm sorry! 😫

However, the only remaining task for me is to adjust the game until the last minute and upload it to the server for use with the download cards. Yes, all preparations are complete. Probably.

Well then, everyone, have a wonderful Christmas!🎄
