Lol I totally thought you were starting from Season 1 as well and I was excited to watch you discover the show lmao but this is great too, Umbrella Academy is my favorite show and I loved Season 3 so it'll be fun to rewatch! No it was never directly stated beforehand that Ben was Korean. But they did say in the first episode that the kids were born all over the world and Ben's actor, Justin H. Min, is Korean-American so I'm sure that's why they chose to make Ben's origins Korean. All the Umbrella kids were white in the original comics so their ethnic identities in the show are more creative choices. Sloane's power is gravity manipulation. Allison arguably had the WORST time in Season 2, because yeah she had a husband but she was a black woman stuck in the racist south in the middle of the 60s civil rights movement for like 2 years lmao I think Diego's time in the insane asylum was a wee bit better than that. Vanya probably had it best, if I got dropped in a different time period and lost my memories, a peaceful life on a farm with a live in nanny job would be clutch lmao Can't wait for the next episode, this first episode is so crazy I love it.
