agree, this is such an interesting aspect for me of asian kings/emperors. it was the same in Japan after WWII, I read that they did not know the emperor's face and voice and the first time many people heard the emperor was when he announced on radio that they were admitting defeat in the war, and many did not believe the broadcast.
