Zabuza’s S.Adventures
Interlude - Haku 2
-VB-
Her husband did tell her that there was an imminent invasion, but she didn’t think that the enemy was devious enough to use the Chunin Exam.
Nevertheless, she hadn’t run around with her dear wearing hunter-nin mask for no reason; Zabuza even said that she was worthy of being a hunter-nin.
She smiled giddily, leaning on her left hand even as her right hand flickered as she let three poison-tipped senbons to the unsuspecting Suna ninjas chasing after civilians. The three strongest looking ninjas went down foaming from their mouths while the rest looked towards the general direction provided by the orientation in which her senbons lodged themselves in her targets.
But by then, she was attacking already.
Now, her doctor had suggested to her to limit the extent of her physical activities but also strongly recommended that she didn’t stop exercising. The doctor’s words were that a strong baby came from a strong mother and to allow herself to grow in the misconception that a pregnant woman was weak?
Very bad thing to do.
… Having a family doctor instead of an underground doctor was still a strange concept for her.
Regardless, she supposed that this counted as a decent exercise for her.
She looked to the three Konoha chunins she’d run into a minute ago. They nodded to her, and she looked back to the four Suna ninjas. They just spotted her and her entourage.
But it was too late by then.
Their exhale breaths grew more and more opaque with each second for five seconds. They noticed it, too. Unfortunately, they wasted all of their time trying to spot them after that one attack she’d launched.
“Ice Release,” she spoke out. “Unsuspecting Sculpture.”
As one, all four Suna ninjas froze up on the spot with thin sheets of ice forming over their bodies.
She let out a breath and stopped sending chakra to the technique she just used. Technically speaking, it’s a timed explosive tag that used her senbons as focal points for her technique’s manifestation rather than herself.
The senbons - made out of chakra-conducting metal - were expensive to procure, but Zabuza was indulgent for her training if nothing else.
She giggled giddily again, thinking about her husband. Haku didn’t notice the Konoha chunins shooting her wary glances. That cut off instantly as more Suna ninjas, along with Sound ninjas, appeared around the corner.
With determined glares on their visage, Konoha nin quickly retaliated against the invaders with a flurry of fire balls.

Haku knew that she was sweating a lot right now.
Having to face a hundred enemy ninjas would do that for most ninjas.
She looked out into the horizon at the still nonstop explosions and erupting fires.
‘How long have we been fighting now?’
Her chakra reserve was down to what felt like the last fifth. If she pushed too hard, then she risked …
She grimaced as another wave of Sound and Suna ninjas converged on their location. Now with fifteen other Konoha ninjas, she took up a supportive role, distracting the enemies with cost-effective bunshins and whatever remained of her emergency stash of herbs, in guarding one of the civilian shelters at the center of the village, far from the arena.
The problem, however, was that there used to be twenty-seven ninjas at the start, including her. It was only thanks to the sturdy defensive structures built into some of the buildings surrounding the shelter that they were able to avoid being completely taken out by a literal one hundred Sound and Suna ninjas.
“I’m out of medicinal herbs and bandages!” she shouted over the furious staccato of the battlefield.
“I’m out too!” another medic-nin shouted from the other end of the defensive line.
Haku grimaced.
The leader of the defensive line, a jounin by the name of Houten, grimaced too. “Everyone, get into the shelter. Keep it reinforced from within. I’ll do my best to distract them all.”
The others didn’t protest, but their grief was plain on their faces. Even the Uchihas looked grief-stricken. Was Jounin Houten a respected ninja? She’d never met him before...
Just then, the enemy techniques began to land explosively around them. A few of them even shunshined into the defensive line in an attempt to split the defenders’ attention, but all they got for their trouble was the swift executions delivered to them by the Konoha nin.
“Mov-!” Jounin Houten shouted, forming a tiger seal. But then he didn’t get to finish his command.
And then from the sky, a man with a giant broken sword dropped down, landing like a cat would after a long fall, in the midst of the enemy. Then he swung his sword, and a dozen ninjas died in an instant.
The broken sword began to grow, and holding that broken sword was her husband, Momoichi Zabuza. Ridden with bleeding cuts, hastily wrapped bandages, and growling without his usual mouth covering bandages to cover his sharp teeth, he made an imposing figure.
“And who do you all think you are?!” Zabuza roared as the Sound and Suna nin tried to disperse. But none of them were on Zabuza’s level. Or rather, most of these invaders were fodder and they died like fodder.
Zabuza struck with his Kubikiribocho, making the sword blur with the speed of his attack. With its reach, Zabuza needed to only move a little to reach far, and the weaker invaders died a gruesome death as their bodies were bisected and limbs were torn away.
Blood pooled underneath her husband, and he slammed his now cracked sword into the pool. In seconds, the sword was whole and unblemished, save for the blood.
“Water Release: Torrential Blades!” he hissed out after completing a set of seals lighting fast with his free left hand. Then he slapped the flat of the Kubikiribocho and swung the sword again. Instead of seeking to maim directly, he just spun a few times on the spot.
And the technique spat out blades of water shooting out from the giant sword, cutting apart enemies in the distance and dispelling weaker enemy techniques headed for him.
Haku quickly got back to her own work. She ripped the clothes off of the dead and used them as makeshift bandages.
She was going to have to reward her husband handsomely for coming to her aid today.
It was only mere minutes later that the call for surrender was heard, and the Sound and Suna nin, upon hearing that their trump card, the Ichibi Jinchuuriki, had been subdued and their kage had been betrayed to death by Orochimaru, surrendered.
She didn’t stay to help the wounded. She went to Zabuza’s side as he dragged his sword off of the battlefield.
Despite the blood splattering his clothes and skin, she ignored it all and planted a firm kiss on his cheek.
“You were wonderful today.”
He grunted appreciatively.

Comments
1. I haven't expected this chapter from the perspective of Haku. And it works ;). 2. Also from what we see (still unreliable perspective though) fight if actually rough, and they actually somewhat struggle? Although it may be simply only that part of a warzone? As with more A-S ranks around I expected less issues in overall, but who knows what happens somewhere else? Thx for chapter.
