Yet tonight, she seeks neither prayer nor penance.
Her guest, a loyal knight, a scholar, it doesn’t matter, stands frozen under her gaze. She’d summoned him under pretense of blessings, but the way her fingers trace the altar’s edge betrays her intent. The Goddess’s blood runs hot in her veins, and even saints crave mortal warmth.
"Kneel," she murmurs, not as a request.
When he obeys, the shrine’s candles gutter out, some sacraments are meant for darkness.
