Chika Fujiwara’s friend had mentioned it so casually, “Don’t forget, there’s a cosplay contest tomorrow in class!”, that she hadn’t doubted him for a second. Always up for fun, she spent the evening prepping her outfit: a bright blue bunny suit, ears and all, complete with a cheeky wink in the mirror before bed.

The next day, she strutted into the classroom, full of energy… and froze.

The room was empty.

For a moment, confusion flickered on her face, then realization settled in. A quiet chuckle escaped her lips. Oh. So that’s what this was.

Before she could decide what to do next, he stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him with a sheepish grin. His words weren’t loud, but the look in his eyes said plenty. And oddly, unexpectedly, she didn't mind.

In fact, she smiled. A rare, mischievous smile.

The morning passed slowly after that. Whatever they talked about, whatever they did, the classroom stayed quiet… except for the sound of muffled laughter and the occasional rustle of fabric.

No one ever knew what happened that day. But Chika came to school the next morning in her regular uniform, humming a tune no one could place, eyes just a little brighter than usual...

翌日、彼女は元気いっぱいに教室に入ってきた…そして、凍りついた。

教室は誰もいなかった。

一瞬、彼女の顔に戸惑いが浮かんだが、すぐに理解が深まった。かすかな笑いが彼女の唇からこぼれた。ああ、そういうことだったのか。

彼女が次にどうするか決めかねているうちに、彼は教室に入ってきて、ばつの悪そうな笑みを浮かべながらドアを閉めた。声は大きくなかったが、彼の目つきは多くのことを物語っていた。そして奇妙なことに、予想外にも、彼女は気にしなかった。

それどころか、彼女は微笑んだ。珍しく、いたずらっぽい笑顔だった。

それからの朝はゆっくりと過ぎていった。何を話しても、何をしても、教室は静まり返っていた…ただ、かすかな笑い声と、時折聞こえる布の擦れる音だけが響いていた。

その日何が起こったのか、誰も知る由もなかった。しかし、翌朝、千歌はいつもの制服姿で学校にやってきた。誰も聞き取れないような歌を口ずさみながら、いつもより少しだけ瞳が輝いていた…
