Yeah age is a huge thing in Korea. Even if it's just a one year difference, the younger one still has to use honorifics and be respectful, and is not allowed to talk back and stuff. If you're older, you automatically have an authority over younger people, and a lot of people use that power to their advantage, and order ppl younger than them around etc.
So changbin is basically saying, he doesn't want to have that age barrier and he just wants to be a comfortable 'hyung' (older brother) to them.

With the age thing, I think they are more aware of each others ages because they need to know how to adress them. Since you "talk" differently to someone who is older or younger they need to ask when the other is born. So it's probably more of a cultural thing 😊
