I have watched kdramas for 15+ years and dramas like crash landing on you Hotel del Luna vagabonds etc etc that are praised by so many people I couldn’t even stand. Even sky castle I couldn’t finish. But I genuinely liked He Is Psychometric. The writer indeed tries to finish a story. Of coz there are flaws like almost all other dramas but it was a really good run. Hell Itaewon Class had major issues too. If you were to let me choose I think Itaewon class has even larger problems with the story writing lol Having high standards doesn’t mean not being open minded 🙂 Dramas with idols doesn’t mean it’s bad just because, dramas with acclaimed seasoned casts doesnt mean it’s automatically better either

ahhh I really want to change the whole list for you guys some of the dramas are not suitable to first timers. In case you are open for suggestions here are my suggestions (K2, Healer, Pinocchio, Romantic Doctor season 1&2, Hotel Del Luna, Sky Castle)

he is psychometric. jinyoung is the main lead so you won't get bored at all and you'll kinda be familiar. it's funny and has a lot of suspense. it's a perfect start

I don't know why people are saying not hwarang first when it's one of the first I ever saw and I still very much enjoyed it. Still my favorite so far as well, but everyone has different preferences I guess~

I know hwarang is in second place but people are right. Though it’s very good, it’s not really one you start off with as a first kdrama. I really thing Itaewon Class is the way to go to break yourself into kdramas. As well as the one in first place.

I agree with this. Sky Castle and Hwarang is not something I usually recommend to people watching K drama for the first time. Out of the list, Itaewon Class is probably the best as an introduction to K drama. Although it's not on the list, I would more strongly recommend Goblin since it has both cultural aspects and comedy.

He is Psychometric, it's a real trip. It will have you laugh and cry your eyes out.

Personally I think that for people who are watching their first Kdrama ever, I wouldn't suggest Sky Castle and The Last Empress, maybe also not even Hwarang. I think Itaewon Class might be ok for a first timer, but I think a more light hearted Kdrama would be best in this context like Welcome to Waikiki, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Hotel Del Luna, and the K2 (for a bit more action) (just my opinion though)

lol since no one is recommending it, try watching romantic doctor teacher Kim. It’s two seasons , I prefer the second one (finished airing few weeks ago) but I guess you’ll need to watch the first? Idk I watched the first long time ago & don’t remember much but enjoyed the 2nd one. Also, as a little advice Hwarang isn’t that good in my humble opinion there’s tons of better historical dramas + if you want to watch it for tae unfortunately he doesn’t appear much, but in the end do what you want 😊

I think the best option is watch the trailer of both top 2 and decide from there because I don’t want y’all to watch a 16 episode drama an hour an episode and be bored. So please watch the trailer and decide for yourselves

Maybe for future attempts to watch a drama. If you want it heroic with some action I would recommend Desendants of the sun. If you want it funny with a fairytale feeling and tear jerking scenes I would recommend Goblin. If you want something to think about and to discuss afterwards I would recommend Miss Hammurabi. If you want a drama with an extraordinary doctor and a great plot I would recommend Dr. John. If you want your heartstrings to be pulled to the max and you are ready for tears I would recommend Angel's last mission: Love.

Goblin isn't the best Drama to start out with because it's really a lot more enjoyable if you already know more about Korean culture from other dramas or it can get confusing, that's the reason I hadn't recommended it yet!
