I relate to this song so much. My first love were a pen and paper. As a kid you could take me with you where ever you wanted as long as I had something with me to draw. I am still doing this a lot when I am stressed. It keeps me calm. Yoongi's song...it is something special. The first time I heard it, I literally teared up without knowing what he is talking about. He puts so much emotion in the music and his rap...it's ridiculous. I am still getting goosebumps every time I listen to the song. Him being so open and vulnerable is amazing to witness. He is full of emotion and we should appreciate that is willing to share them with us.

I think this was the most vulnerable we've ever seen Yoongi. Like we've seen him cry many times, actually, and he's opened up on his mixtape, but this was a moment where Yoongi was truly vulnerable, admitting his weaknesses and first love through a song that was so personal to him. Like you said, you can tell how passionate he is about it and it must be hard to perform such a deep song on stage constantly on tour. He said he actually cried when he recorded the song, and in the recording, you can hear that he was choked up while recording it.

First of all, thank you guys for this reaction. This song is actually one of the two Wings solo songs I anticipated the most. Tbh, I was expecting a little bit more of your reaction to this song. Everything about it is on another level of “emotional” and I literally bawled my eyes out when I first watched the performance. “First Love is the song that expresses Suga’s love for music, and how piano became his first love when he was young” is what most people pick up from just reading through the lyrics. If we would’ve dig deeper into the meaning, it’s literally about how music saves his life and how they fulfill each other. Lines like “without you, I’m nothing. As the dawn passed, the two of us greeted the morning together. Don’t ever let go of my hand because I won’t let go of yours either” expresses how much music means to him. As I mentioned before about the connection their solo songs have with their real life and the BU story, First Love is one of those where the meanings and the performance actually relate to both. Suga talks about how precious music is for him and how it saves his life through “When I was in a pit of despair, I pushed you away and resented that I met you. But you were always there by my side even though I didn’t say anything” and “Whenever I wanted to give up, you said to me ‘Bro, you can really make it’” Here, he also mentioned about the accident where he got hit by a car and broke his shoulder back when he was a trainee in the part “I grabbed onto my shattered shoulder and said ‘I really can’t go on’.” As for the BU connection, Suga’s character in the story also loves piano a lot. There’re scenes where you can see him teaching Jungkook how to play piano. Also, if you guys noticed, there was an image of fire appeared on the background screen of the stage around the end of the performance. It is related to the story where Yoongi lost his mother in the fire that burned his house, and his piano was burned with her. That explains the piano on fire that appeared in First Love short film and the VCR shown before his performance. It’s always so hard for me to write a long ass comment, especially when English isn’t my first language. I do hope you guys can understand my explanation though.
