Santa is a saint who bring gifts to good kids, yknow, and we have no issues talking about him as adults. But there's a cultural norm kf not telling little kids so they can believe in the magic, and you'd generally consider someone an asshole for telling a kid Santa isn't real straight up. So, there's a cultural context for not discussing him in certain situations that broadly speaking we would like people to respect, feel me? The same is true for the entities I mentioned. Native American traditions have serious cultural significance and are meant to be talked about with a certain gravity or respect within certain contexts. It's the same idea about not telling the truth about Santa to kids, but with a greater degree of significance. The only difference is marginalized native American cultures can't command the same respect for their traditions, so I think it's important as people in the majority to be mindful of their traditions, much like we'd hope for people to not tell our younger relative or kids or siblings that Santa isn't real. But it's not something the boys or anyone should feel bad about doing even now, since not saying the names of or misusing certain entities from Native American tradition is a pretty recent discovery, especially since some of the entitied I meantioned aren't meant to be discussed openly. Wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad, since I learned it recently myself. I imagine that's why you seem mad, hopefully I made that clear in the original post. Laterz.

Trolls would be offensive to nordic cultures (where i am from) and even fucking dragons would be offensive. Its not offensive to use a popular folklore creature in a story

Btw: the alternative I use when I do cryptids in my writing is: I want a tall, emaciated, gangly monster: I call these Gaunts, typically. Their catch all lore is just that they were once people who consumed too much without giving in return, or they are the embodiment of selfish consumption. Relatively standard monster stuff. This is typically my replacement for W-ndigos, but sometimes I make them more sinister, so they can sub for sk-nwalkers. If I really want the shape-shifting thing: Changelings are great! Changelings in dnd are kinda normal looking as their base selves, but fairy lore changelings can be super creepy and give off the same vibes as Chase. Sorry, I'm not trying to call out or anything, just trying to help. My guess is you guys didn't know, which I totally get cause I didnt know at first either! Either way, loved the episode!
