I’m late to the party but I’m catching up so I’m gonna say my piece. As a woman think you write women very well, you don’t need to worry as long as you make sure they are people with a purpose greater than being the support to men or just an object. That’s the main reason we complain about men writing women. If they have a purpose for themselves that isn’t solely to push the narrative of a man better or be their object of affection (which y’all have never even come close to writing someone like that) you’ll be fine.

Kumaky

can i get a link to that eden comic i cant find it anywhere

Abdulaziz Mohammed

when alphonse said he was staying with the old man on the ship he meant drey, and old man earl went off somewhere,

Abdulaziz Mohammed

so true <3

Jade

Wasn't OME (old man earl) with Marshal John and/or Alphonse? Shouldn't they be with him?

Davoman

Also Edyn is still badass even tho she's softspoken Also also the "we're the... women" and the girlboss speech is honestly really realistic to drunk women

Some analysis of the women npcs: When Lizzie was introduced, we all knew she was gonna be a main recurring npc. And as the only recurring female npc at the time, I was worried she would fall into the men’s idea of the "strong female character" trope; that is where men try to make their female characters progressive by giving them traditionally masculine traits. Like y’know, this Strong Female Character can beat up everyone and is aggressive and never has emotions. This equates strength with masculinity. And there’s nothing wrong with this character on it’s own, but when she’s the only recurring female npc and the second most plot-important portrayal of womanhood in the show, it could be better. Now Edyn Tidestrider is different. She’s softspoken, emotional, and nurturing. But she’s also very strong-willed, brave and determined to accomplish her goals. She doesn’t hesitate to directly push back against Gillion’s ideals of being a hero, which is something most characters haven’t really done. (ike the attitude up until now was “Gillion is just like this, let him do his thing as long as he doesn’t bother us” whereas Edyn says no, this is clearly fucked up.) Her more feminine traits don’t detract from her strength, and she’s allowed to be a full character even if she doesn’t act in traditionally masculine ways. In fact I’d say she’s very compelling because she’s clearly competent without acting that way, and while holding onto her unique personality

Episode 58 is probably my favorite episode, just for the roleplay. Every episode just gets better bro, I'm hyped to see more into the characters. Especially since we seem to be exploring Gillion's past more.

Mr Mustelid

grizzly has always astounded me and honestly inspired me with how he plays his NPCs - regardless of gender. they’re all so fleshed out, descriptive and feel REAL. and yes, as a female, i especially appreciate the fact he and condi can play female characters which in my opinion pass basically every rest you throw at them and feel as real and epic as any other or male character

queenoflegeeks

Looks like a lot of people here are basically saying the same thing, so I might as well add on to the “as a woman comments” lol Not too long ago, my little sister and I were GUSHING about how well Condi played Jay, about how much we cared for her just as much as the other characters, and just about how invested we were in Jay’s story. The point to our conversation being that neither of us had felt this much wholehearted care for a female character in any media for some time. We love her just as much as we love Gillion and Chip, and that felt really awesome. I was legit about to write a whole off-the-cuff essay speculating as to why that is before realising I probably don’t have time for that, but I guess it all comes down to the fact that Jay’s role in the group is not boiled down to being “the girl,” while at the same time there is a femininity to her that I can’t really describe (“big sister vibes” is the closest way I can think to describe it). Ultimately, I think all four of you guys do just fine, if for no other reason than because you are playing CHARACTERS first as foremost; PEOPLE with fleshed out personalities and quirks and motivations, and I think that’s pretty neat :3 (take it from a girl who almost always prefers to play dudes in games)

HardyGal

Adding to the "as a woman comments" I just wanted to say that there really is no reason to be worried about writing women. Frankly, the only times I see people complain about women being poorly written is when media portrays a woman as a "sexy lamp" or shows strength by assigning masculine traits and denouncing feminine ones. Essentially, the fact that the women you guys write are complex characters first and women second, is the reason I and other women are able to identify with them despite the fact they're played by men. Personally one of my favourite part about the women in this campaign is neither their more feminine nor more masculine traits are framed as objectively good nor bad. The women you write just feel like people, and that's all that anyone ever wants in representation.

Mksiblings

We didn't mention that Alphonse was supposed to be with old man Earl or did I miss hear that

Raven Robin

also I love drunk jay it's fantastic to see her just being absolutely stupid and she deserves to do it more- the clown costume was only the beginning

Andante

honestly one of my favorite post show shows idk why just good vibes

Andante

loving the niklaus bpd rep /lh we are all that hot

rumi

i've always really enjoyed the portrayals of women from both campaigns. i think this episode was one of my favorites in that regard as i was able to relate to them so well because i've had those drunken conversations with my friends. keep up the great work guys :D

Chloe Pitzer

i think apple is ava jays sister

whispy

New Patreon goal, animated Netflix original? Crazy idea, I know, but- I've also been really hoping for some sort of development with Jay's night terrors. I don't remember them ever being fixed, and they've been kinda glossed over as of late, I feel. Kinda want them to come back again, if just for a li'l angst, or a reminder of Niklaus' influence. Chip: Fish, women, and fish women FEAR him Every now and then I just forget gender exists, so when I hear about writing men and women certain ways, it always gets me thinking, "they're just PEOPLE, what's the difference??" Trying to be a "woman" or "man" or whatever is too complicated and confusing for me, just being a person is far easier to remember. Jay's loose lips backfired so horribly that it actually improved her relationship with Lizzie, and I feel like that says something about honesty JRWI needs to stop hitting patrons, I mean, 2000? Absolutely unacceptable. I do not condone this abuse

Keyia

As another girl, I nominate you as our spokes(wo)man. This means I've decided that you can speak for all of us, because I can.

Keyia

This ep was astounding! It was really nice to see all the separate character scenes just because of the different sides we got to see to each character Jay and Lizzie's scene was also hilarious and well done. As a women, the portrayal of the female characters in this show have been genuinely good. "we're the fucking.....women" was such a good line i died. Self awareness goes farther than it should when it comes to writing women well. As long as you continue to put the care you already have into making them, they'll turn out great!!!

Glam

Jay and Lizzie are canon in my heart seriously though, as a woman I love seeing all the women in this campaign be absolute badasses and the drunken part of this episode was absolutely hilarious (obviously I cannot speak for every woman though) Lizzie and Jay are some of my favourite parts of this campaign

GenerallyJen

I am highly offended by condi and grizzlys speech about jay and Lizzie being girlbosses. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. I will be unsubscribing, disliking, and filing a police report. On the real, jay and Lizzie are THE girlbosses, and I died at that scene. From a girl (and yes I do speak for all girls, because I have decided that I can), it’s cool. The only issue is when people cross between “women are cool” to “death to men”, and you haven’t done that. yET

Sp_acedOut

also with the whole being men playing these women power characters i can say that i absolutely love the representation!! it means more to me personally that you don’t shy away from including strong women in your campaigns :)

tig

lizzie and jay are canon now idc

tig

As a woman, (I obviously don’t speak for every woman but) I thought Jay and Lizzie’s drunken girl power was hilarious! Shitting on men and saying women will rule the world is totally something I have said while drunk lol

Abigail

Weird things do come from Walmart parking lots. Like my dog.
