A New CaVE Build
Added 2025-02-01 04:56:06 +0000 UTCToday I have released a new build of CaVE. It includes work from the past month. Most notable is the FTP support, a general reworking of the Sync code, updates to the Automatic Updates code, and some changes/additions to the Saves tab.
FTP support
FTP supports syncing of Saves in addition to database files.
FTP server detection is done on a 30s interval between pings. (The interval can be adjusted in the settings file, as low as 5.)
Added Edit > FTP Settings, to set/change the FTP server address+port.
Overhaul of the Sync code
Changed the status indicator in the lower right to now display Grey, Red, Orange, Green, Cyan, to distinguish connection statuses.
Added SD, ND, and SN text to the status indicator to inform on what type of service is available via the USB/FTP connection. SDcard, Save NAND or both.
Saves scans will no longer be performed on every connection or database load. Instead, they are now only done when you click the Saves tab.
Automatic Updates
Automatic Updates now has support for Preset Metadata files. (None currently posted, so no need for testing.)
Fixed a issue where only the most recent updates were downloaded.
Fixed a issue with the display of the progress when downloading/processing updates.
Saves Tab
Added option to the Saves tab to allow you to RENAME game saves for "Missing Game".
Saves marked Missing Game are now colored Red and have a down arrow next to the title text.
Clicking the red text/arrow will display a popup list of all the games in your database that do not have a save associated with them.
The primary purpose of this feature is to allow saves made with a custom game, to be usable if/when Nintendo officially releases that game.
You would naturally then delete your custom copy in most cases, leaving the saves on your NAND without a game.
This is why this only works with Missing Game saves and Games that do not have saves yet.
Misc
Fixed a issue with game descriptions not importing from the preset databases.
Fixed the Compatibility Rating to show immediately after importing a ROM. (If the ROM was detected in a compatibility database of course)
Fixed display of mod provided boolean params.
Misc other minor changes.
NSO Updates and DisplayEx
2 NSO updates have been released in the past month. SNES v4.0, and N64 v3.0. CaVE now supports both via automatic updates.
DisplayEx has been updated for both as well. N64 DisplayEx v3.0 in particular, has seen a important change to be aware of. In v3.0, Nintendo removed the Icon Process parameter. This parameter was previously used by DisplayEx to effectively act as a "Widescreen Mode: Enabled/Disabled" param. With its removal, I decided to update DisplayEx to include a more proper and intuative parameter called... just that. Widescreen Mode. It's a checkbox. Check it and the game will fill up the full screen. Same as previously. But you will need to re-mark widescreen games with this new option. Sorry.
Other
Worth mentioning is... I will try to make posts like this public now. The reason being, so that there is a sense of when these changes will be coming to the public build.
Public release dates:
NSO SNES v4.0 is slated for 02-25-2025
NSO N64 v3.0 is slated for 02-28-2025
This CaVE update is slated for 02-28-2025
