Orphan Black Season 2 Episode 3

Also, that "claimed" reference made me chuckle lol...

Oh, man. They be playing with Kira's life, don't they? She's been in several people's possession within 3 episodes lol. Okay, quick rundown on how episode 2x2 ended. The Birdwatchers made "arrangements" for Mrs. S & Kira to get out of the country. Sarah wasn't really getting answers and not trusting the plan decides to do an intuition check with Kira. The little one tells Sarah that she saw Mrs. S find the picture, the one that Mrs. S just told Sarah she didn't know anything about, while she was snooping through Amelia's stuff. Kira basically tells Sarah that something wasn't feeling right with Mrs. S, so Sarah grabbed Kira, snuck out the house and tries to leave with a truck. The male Birdwatcher ran outside and tried to stop Sarah from leaving outside. Mrs. S, who also sensed something of off, got a rifle pulled on her by her old friend Brenda. Mrs. S knocked the rifle from Brenda and gave her the ole fork n knife to the table. While Sarah's fighting off the male Birdwatcher, he got a headshot. Sarah's shook seeing her mum standing looking at there with the rifle in front of the truck. Sarah drove towards Mrs. S to leave and Mrs. S stepped toaway allowing Sarah to drive away with Kira. Mrs. S went back inside the home, Brenda confessed that she sold them out to the Proletheans for money. Mrs. S mentioned something ominous, and finished off Brenda. Felix, on the phone with a distressed Allison, got picked up by Sarah & Kira in the stolen truck the following morning and they drove off together. Name Check: Terminator/Rachel's hound dog = Daniel. Kira's Daddy = Cal. New/Deceased Clone = Jennifer Fitzsimmons. Jennifer's Boyfriend/Monitor = Greg. Science Insitution = D.Y.A.D. Institute Creepy Cult = Proletheans. Jeb Prolethean = Henrik "Hank" Johanssen. Redhead Daughter = Grace/Gracie. Nosey Detective = Det. Angie Deangeles. Oh, Sarah. I think part of what makes her character interesting as our main protagonist and essentially main heroine of the story is that although she's risking her life, trying to be a good mum to Kira, and working to keep everyone safe while everything continues to fall a part, it's easy to forget that she's also a secretive, often selfish, destructive, and manipulative con-artist. When she portray these things against people we don't like, or to get out out uncompromising situations, we cheer her on, but we often forget that she has a history of hurting her own loved ones as well. It reminds the audience just how flawed our heroine is and continues to be, even though she tries to do better. "There's no place for me here", breaks my heart every time. Jordan Gavaris (Felix) was so good in that scene with so much emotion in his eyes. You could see the hurt in his eyes. I feel like that scene between Sarah & Felix might sum up their relationship. They've probably had this "two against the world" dynamic since they were kids. They were the two kids Mrs. S skipped the country with and only had each other. Big sister Sarah probably protected little brother Felix, and Felix followed whatever shennanigans Sarah got them in (even if he was against it). They probably always had plans to run away together but for whatever reason Sarah probably screwed up their plans, probably running off with some guy she had no business running with, and he'd get cast aside while she ran amok. She'd probably come back with broken promises and repeat. Besides Mrs. S, Felix has probably been the one consistent adult in Kira's life. While Sarah ran around being problematic, Felix was probably the "dad figure" in Kira life. Felix was the one Kira called when she got to a phone in ep 2x1. Now, Sarah's back trying to be a "parent" and decides Kira needs her "real" father. A father that Sarah never told Felix even existed after 8 years. The one guy that Felix probably feels he can't compete with in Kira's life after being the one who was there for so long. Once again getting cast aside by Sarah. "I think Kira deserves something nourishing for once". I think that comment really hurt Fe. He probably felt like Sarah doesn't think he's enough for Kira, and with Cal, maybe even getting replaced without any regard of his feelings about it all. After years of standing by Sarah's side whenever she hurricane'd in and out of his life, the three of them finally run away together and he realizes it wasn't worth it. That Sarah's bs wasn't worth it. She will continue to lie and put his life in dangerous situations with little regard. They had no real, solid plan. He's continued to put Sarah's life before his own whenever she needs him, and even though we've seen him complain about it multiple times before, he's never seemed to actually do anything about it. Except now he's finally seemed to put his foot down. The beauty of Felix being involved in this whole clone mess is that he doesn't just have Sarah, Mrs. S, and Kira anymore. He's developed relationships within Clone Club and basically gained Sarah's "sisters" as his own. He's been Allison's biggest support, and even though it's rocky due to the whole Delphine, he's bonded with Cosima as well (I think he was lowkey obsessing over Cosima's look/vibe initially lol). His loft is literally the not-so-secret Clone Club Headquarters. He probably felt like he abandoned Allison, who truly needed and appreciated his love and support, to go run off with Sarah, who constantly takes advantage of Felix's loyalty. I feel like that scene was very telling. Felix is being emotionally vulnerable about Sarah's betrayal and lies in front of her, while Sarah kinda just sits there, almost cold. She doesn't refute his words. She doesn't even apologize to Felix for lying or tries comfort him. I think Sarah's biggest problem is doesn't know how to handle emotions, especially someone else's. She can use someone's else' emotions to manipulate someone to her advantages, but probably not in a genuine setting like with her brother, so she says nothing. Maybe she knows that and doesn't want to Kira to feel angry and broken like her. I do appreciate Sarah sitting Kira down and being honest with her about her up ringing and the pain she felt growing. I genuinely do feel parents should be honest with their kids about their own flaws to them. I think it helps humanize them and their child's image of their parents wouldn't be shattered when the time comes when they do find out you're flawed, not perfect, and may not even have all the answers. While Felix up and left, and now trying to get back home, dear Allison is spiraling out. Allison is still making her special cocktails of pill and shot bottles. She found out she was a clone, find out that someone's killing them, learns about monitors, let Anysley die for nothing because she found out her husband, the father of her children, the one she originally expected to be her monitor in the first place, has been the spy all along. Now a new "monitor", who's a cop, pops up while Allison feels responsible for Aynsley's death. Felix left her and Cosima is preoccupied being elbow deep in another clone's corpse. I love that Felix showed up to Allison's musical. If only he had been there, maybe who wouldn't spiral and crash the way she did. Watching her messing up in her rehearsals and then stumbling through the play was hard to watch because no one understand what's happening to her. She was so focused on her drunken high anger at Donnie that went completely off the stage and she looked so out of it when she hit the ground. (Funny enough, I believe Tatiana does actually have singing and musical theatre in her background lol). I think what makes monitors so unnerving is the fact that the constant pattern of using significant others (Paul, Donnie, Greg, Delphine) to basically keep tabs on the clones. Research wise, it makes sense for data collection, but there's this feel of a major boundary being crossed by using the person these clones most likely their most intimate selves with (thoughts, feelings, bodies, etc) to do it. Cosima sees it as feeding the clones lies in a fake relationship, while Delphine assures that the situation is real for the monitor as well, at least in the regards of hope. I guess the question would be how much do the monitors know? You had Paul, a blackmailed, miltary soldier who was more or less kept in the dark, but then you have Delphine, a scientist who works directly under Leekie being aware of certain stuff while now openly monitoring her self aware subject. Speaking of "out of it", that scene with Helena and the Proletheans in all white was so disturbing. Despite being terrified of the character, we're so used to seeing Helena being a fighter, a highly skilled and dangerous one at that, seeing her in such a state, unable to even move and defend herself, is chlling. Henrik told Gracie when she told him that Helena doesn't belong there, "...you're my firstborn, but Helena does have a soul, she does have a purpose, and she is going to be a part of our family now." Mark earlier told Gracie before she brought Helena her food, "Men schemed for years to build her, but only God could make her fertile". And also, as a fellow foodie, drugging the food is just plain cruel 😫. So, both Cosima and the audience get introduced to a new clone, Jennifer Fitzsimmons. I remember we got teased about Jennifer before the season started, only to find out she died. It has to be rough for Cosima because of this time she's been "the scientist" in the sense of probably having some form of personal detachment through her clone discovery, but now that she's sick, watching Jennifer descend further and further into her illness is probably like watching herself dying before it happens. It's no longer about studying their biology . The situation is probably getting more and more real for her. "Fun" Fact: Tatiana said that seeing the ill & deceased version of herself laying on the table in front of her, and even doing the "autopsy", was unnerving. She said she just kept just looking back at her own face the whole time. "Are you my dad?" So eerily, intuitive Kira strikes again. She looked him in his face and knew. I was wondering if y'all would recognize "Cal" from GoT (I never did finish that series). "What do we say about fear? Doubt's first cousin." It really is a good line. Jeb/Henrik So, Paul's still M.I.A. I guess he finally went on that Taiwan trip with Rachel, who also wasn't in this episode. Leekie was also not around, at least not in his office (even though Cosima goofing in his office was cute lol). Mrs. S' wareabouts is also unknown this episode. Where did she go after letting Sarah & Kira go, then offing Brenda? Both Daniel (D.Y.A.D.) and the Proletheans showed up to the Birdwatchers' hideout separately. The Proletheans decided to cut their loses on Sarah & Kira since they already got Helena to work with. Daniel, on the other hand, decides to keep searching. Since the season 1 finale, he's been a lawyer, a private investigator, and now a detective lol. But he's caught up to Sarah and for a moment even had his hands on Kira. They just getting closer and closer to getting that baby in their possession. I just want to take a moment to appreciate Shamonda always thinking of escape plans and plans of offense/defense lol. We got Art this episode though. Angie continues to be nosey and with Helena disappearing out of thr hospital, the only lead she has left is to stalk Allison. The "Shakira clone" comment was a nod to the fans who was referring to Helena as "the Shakira clone" due to her hair during season 1 lol. So, Angie tells Art that the mystery hospital one, the clone she showed him a picture of last episode, had escaped the hospital with an unidentified man. He told Sarah that the Proletheans are profiled as a domestic terrorist group, but unless he has access to some FBI/International watch list, I'm not sure how he found the Proletheans either lol. But he's investigating and taking pictures. We also don't know how much Sarah told Art about Helena, who's presumed dead. I don't what kind if game Sarah got to be getting these dudes hooked like this. Had Paul out here risking it all. Even Raj looked like he had heart eyes for "Beth" lol. Now Cal's having grown up time with a woman who conned him put of $10k and had a kid he didn't know about for 8 years. Maybe Cal just glowing in is his newfound daddy feels and was feeling a little nostalgic 😄. But he protected Kira from Daniel even though he presumably has zero clue what's going on, so that's good enough for now. That whole scenario gotta have his head spinning though. Came home one night to people already broken into his home, found out he's a father, rekindle the flame with his scamming baby mama, and now he's shooting bullets to protect people he barely know in a matter of about 2 days. He's handling it pretty well, all things considered 😆. So, Sarah gets snatched up by Daniel to get taken back to D.Y.A.D. Daniel finds the picture with the two scientists that says "Project Leda" on the back, but before we know it they get t-boned by a truck. And yeah, thank goodness it collided on Daniel's side because that looked like a nasty hit. Things are getting spicer in more ways than one. Coming Up: Will Felix save the play? Will Cosima do more Leekie imitations? Will Kira open up a psychic hotline to support her family's low funds? Who knows, but I'm sure we'll find out lol...
