Orphan Black Season 2 Episode 1

Comments

Praying for the next episode 🙏

Danielle

I really enjoy reading your commentary, Ash Lee. Well done! And my fav clone is everybody's fav. I remember when I first watched the show, I checked the end credits to see who played Cosima and couldn't understand why she was not listed. Lol. At that time, I completely missed the resemblance between Sarah and Katja. Tatiana is incredible. Each clone has different mannerisms, walks, arm movements and speech, and when combined with makeup and hair, they are truly different women. This show is amazing.

Don't worry, we were all frustrated too! Agony having to wait a week for the next episode, then 10 months for the next season! The good news is, it only gets more frustrating from here 😂. Name Check: Blonde Bob Boss = Rachel Duncan. Allison's Husband/Monitor = Donnie Hendrix. Art's Annoying Partner = Det. Angela Deangelis, Mr. Not So In Charge = Dr. Aldous Leekie. "Daphne" = Dr. Delphine Cormier. Mr. Acting All Hard = Paul Dierden. Cosima's Self-Loving Lab Partner = Scott. And we're off with the season 2 premiere as we hit the ground running with Sarah searching for her missing daughter and mum (I love that opening shot). She can barely catch her breath and already she's getting harassed by two, unpleasant weirdos in a diner over her fresh hot tea (shoutout to the innocent, diner owner for his kindness and protection because he could have just minded his own business and turned a blind eye, but he didn't). Cops are still harassing her. She's ready to get a gun and start blasting at this point and I don't blame her lol. Shamonda's correct. After Sarah & Felix got out of police custody, Sarah met Rachel, went met up with Allison and Felix at his place, Cosima showed up, Sarah left. Felix and Sarah were packing Kira's bag the next morning, Sarah & Mrs. S had a moment then Sarah left to meet up with Amelia. Then Felix was at his place with Cosima, then left when at Delphine showed up to his place. This happened right before Helena stabbed Amelia at Beth's, so it was still daytime the last we saw him in the finale, so he missed at least the last 15 minutes of the finale (which was A LOT lol) and about the first 6 minutes of this episode including, Sarah trying to call him. And that's how we ended up with Felix high as a kite with his buns out, working up to a 5-way, in what seems to be some sort of gay, fetish club, in the middle of the night because he didn't realize there was a huge, code-red emergency happening lol. (Also, Ralph predicted in the finale that Cosima & Delphine were going to hookup in Felix's bed like Sarah & Paul did, and well, according Felix's "I smelled lesbians in my bed last night" comment to Cosima and Delphine having her shirt all open in the beginning of the episode might have said it all 😬😆). Speaking of the Sapphic, science nerds, only scientists can somehow make blood drawing look like some cozy, romance scene in the bed with the dimmed lighting and such lol. Who took the time to light all of those candles in Felix's apartment for this? Lol Don't worry. Delphine and Angie stressed me out too 🤣😂😭. So, when we left the finale, Sarah found Mrs. S' house overturned, her mum and daughter both gone, and Kira's window wide open. It seems Paul didn't go with Sarah (he is still being blackmailed). Allison announces she's quitting drinking and pill popping. Shamonda: "Since yesterday?" 😂 They say one day at a time 😄😄😄. But pf course she has a young, suburban drug/gun dealer name Ramon lol. Allison's is hilarious. I think in season 1, Cosima started off as the fan favorite. Allison started as the irritating, suburban, uptight clone and it took a little while for fans to warm up to Allison but by the potluck episode, fans really loving Allison more and more. She might be top 3 overall with the fans. I think people love Allison so much because eventhough her life is chaotic like the rest (probably moreso her own doing than anything else lol), the dark comedy aspect of her story is like a breath of fresh air from the chaotic darkness of Sarah's life or the flip-floppy, scientific mess (and now illness) of Cosima's life. There's almost a zaniness to it lol. And she's a fighter like Shamonda said. It's funny because you'd probably think she'd be the weak link of the trio, but nope. She's probably the best, physical fighter in Clone Club. Only Allison can make a kidnapping attempt both equally badass and hilarious at the same time, and I be in tears everytime I watch it 😂. Throwing elbows like she hot the whole Taebow collection stashed in her storage somewhere lol. Ralph laughed at the whistle blowing like some owl popped up on a Try Not To Laugh Challenge 😂. Fun Fact: The musical Allison is doing is actually a real musical called "Blood Ties". It's about a few friends at home cleaning up blood from someone unaliving themselves. I think it's actually more of a tragic, dark comedy, and the show decided to make it feel more camp and ridiculous to give it that community theater feel, but the musical and song is real lol. "Normally, I would say 'Don't do anything rash', but rash seems to be a genetic trait. So, go get Kira" - Allison Maybe that's true 😆. We've at least seen the main 3 constantly making very rash decisions, or as Cosima called it, their "predisposition to impulsive behavior" lol. Cosima's whole situation with Delphine, Allison hitting Donnie with the golf club and deciding to play Crafts & Torture, getting high and sleeping with Chad, and worse, letting Aynsley die. And this whole series literally started with Sarah decision stealing a dead woman with her face's purse right, faking her own death, and stealing Beth's identity to try and con her bank to steal $75k on a whim in like a 24 hrs span lol. And it wasn't like she ever has any real long term plan when she makes these decisions either, so she has to constantly keep making them to get in and out of situations, but she's so skilled at it lol. Good for a con artist, but I guess it makes sense why she struggled as a parent. One thing I'll say about Sarah. She thinks quick on her feet. Her rash decisions may lowkey be her superpower, she is a con artist afterall 😄. Speaking of Sarah, she needs like a really long nap lol. She started the episode off running and by the time she ended up at Art's, she just looked so defeated. I think this episode takes place in probably 24 hrs, not mention the all of the mess that happened in the finale. She wasn't playing with Rachel though in that confrontation lol. She'd been itching for a gun all episode so she could pull up lol. She was coming for Rachel's head for her daughter and it's the only time we've seen Rachel lose her cool demeanor so far, even if it only about 30 seconds. I guess Sarah figured she bodied one blonde the night before, she might as well make it another (and if Delphine keep playing she'll make it Three Blonde Mice 😄). And we got Ms. Rachel Duncan. You know, the first time we officially met Rachel in the finale, I wasn't really taken by her like the others my first watch. I wasn't sold on her as an antagonist. But in retrospect, I've realized that Rachel in the finale was moreso her version of trying to be "professionally pleasant", because she wasn't trying to come off as antagonist at the time. But in this episode, it was like I felt an energy shift the moment she said, "Hello, Sarah" on the phone, and suddenly I was worried. There's like this intense, but, calm presence about her. She's a different type of antagonist from Helena, the highly, trained assassin. Rachel doesn't seem like a physical fighter. She's a power flexer. The way she interacted with Leekie (something I noticed with Rachel in her scene with Paul & Leekie is she doesn't tilt her head back to look up at them whenever they're face to fave, only her eyes, despite the height differences). The way she was so certain Sarah wouldn't shoot her, even after seeing the gun in her hand, and the way she so easily slipped back into her calm demeanor after Paul came in, despite literally still having a gun to her head. We only got to see her get rattled for just a few moments, and even then as she laid on the ground with the gun to her head, clearly shook, but angrily responds to Sarah, "Nobody lays hands on me". Bold is the word I'm looking for lol. The Bold, Blonde, Bob Boss known as Rachel Duncan lol ("Audacity" might be better but I like a good iliteration lol). That face off between Sarah and Rachel was so good. It might be my favorite scene of the episode. (I also love that although British like Sarah, her accent and tone is very different). Fun Fact: over @ 30:20 of your reaction? There's a guy taking a picture of Dr. Leekie and another guy. Those two guys are the two show creators, John Fawcett (the photographer) and Graeme Mason (the guest). I love the multi-clone scenes. The oneshot where Sarah, Cosima, and Felix are talking before Ramon shows up, then again except Alison on the laptop that Sarah's holding, Cosima takes the giftbox and manuevers between Sarah and Felix (shoutout to Jordan Garvaris because he also had to many of these multi-clone scenes with Tatiana, especially since Felix's place seems to be Clone Club Headquarters). Then the Sarah/Rachel scene at near the end. The way the do physical interactions between the clones, even having them touch each other feel so seamless. Trying to time everything perfect sounds like an absolute headache to film 😭. I know I've probably said this already, but it's so easy to forget that it's Tatiana is playing all of these characters because she pulls tgem off so well. I remember when they did a panel at SD Comic Con after the first season, Tatiana, Jordan/Felix, & Dylan Bruce/Paul did the panel, and my brain was confused why only 3 actors came, forgetting that Tatiana is literally half the main cast and then some lol... And of course, we got another cloneswap scene. I think we're at #7 . The first Cosima impersonation and it's by the Sarah. I love the details they do that differentiate the sisters, even in cloneswaps. Like Sarah struggling to see through Cosima's glasses and her messy attempt at twisting her hair. Her reaction to Delphine's kiss was hilarious because that was literally her first time even meeting Delphine because she was already gone by the time Delphine showed up in the finale, so she was totally caught off guard 😂. It didn't help that Delphine is already on Sarah's list of people she don't rock with lol. Delphine's getting real comfortable ain't she? Lol She clocked Sarah pretty quickly though. It's was kinda jarring to see Sarah in her own clothes, but with her hair pulled back and wearing Cosima's style of eyeliner instead of her own punk rock style, which emphasizes how different even their use of makeup and eyeliner are. And finally, we end on the not-so-shocking survival of Helena. *cue the screeching theme music* I'm glad they didn't kill her off in the finale. That one is too much of a chaotic wild card in the first season to just get rid of that easily lol. Sarah thinks she's dead (she hasn't even told anyone about Helena, just told Felix that she was gone and it wasn't her that took S & Kira). "My sestra shot me", Oh, Helena. Now, Art revealed that Helena's people, Proletheans, are roaming about and considered to be a domestic terrorist group. And good catch on the fish symbol. That guy whole look is so unnerving lol. Curious Question: Who are y'alls favorite clone so far? Or character in general. We know the character y'all don't like for sure 😆. Still no Kira or Mrs. S. And Art? This is show is game of "Who can I trust?", including with the main characters lol. Who knows what? Who works for who? Who an ally and who's a foe? Coming Up: Will Cosima stuff her locks and pull a cloneswap scene of her own? Will Rachel give us more power stances in front of streakfree, clean windows? Will Kira ever NOT be in danger? I know the answer 🤫.
