Get ready to put on your lab coats in our latest story update as you step into Blair's Lab! It's the perfect day for a new build release (if you´re reading dates like a European xD).

TLDR: This build is marked Pre-Alpha for a (many) reason(s). Many new features are being added and we want you to see the first steps we are taking towards combat and all the good stuff Taco added to the Sandbox. Expect a bunch of hotfix patches over the coming week, so if you´re looking for a more polished experience, just grab the download link for the MEGA FOLDER above and check in there every now and then for new build updates.


Major Performance Improvement: We were able to decrease the VRAM requirements for ANBW by around 2GB which means that players with 8GB VRAM and above should have a mostly acceptable framerate in this build. This is also reflected by a drastically reduced build size of 8GB versus previous near 11-12GB build sizes. So -> faster downloads yippee!


Major Issue Warning: We implemented a new feature to allow voice lines to duck other gamer audio volume. It's currently quite snappy, so it may be disorienting to have music at full blast. We recommend setting the music volume to around 25% to avoid that issue.


Combat

Well howdy, things can be shot, slabbed, slashed and blunt force trauma-ed now. That said, it's a very early implementation, with literal (tasty) ZOMBIE-SPAGHETTO-CODE, meaning this iteration of combat will have a full rework done with YOUR feedback in mind!

What are we going for and what are you able to help us decide on: 

At the moment our goal is to get a slightly slower version of a classic boomer shooter mechanic going. We did a lot of thinking about which specific type of shooter mechanic to emulate for ANBW and figured out that for the scope of our game, boomer shooter is the most attractive option. It allows us to create interesting combat encounters with unique enemies and their abilities, cool (soon to be seen) movement abilities, like dashing, double jumps, grappling hooks, and a relatively easy way to optimize our combat arenas. 

Originally we had thought to work with hordes, because the shamblers (Class 1) enemy types have the zombie style movement to them, but that would have taken away the opportunity to create more interesting enemy classes in exchange for fighting a optimization battle for a really not needed horde feature. (Even though hordes are tons of fun if they work, check out Kagura Survivors in case you haven't our second team has been hard at work at the open beta for that game).

We know Combat is still in need of a LOT of major improvements but that's also where you come in: What do you want to see combat wise, how do you feel about boomer shooters, how fast should movement speed be, or slow, what type of customization for camera, fov, movement speed, input controls and and and … do you hope to find in ANBW´s combat features in the future?

SANDBOX UPDATES

Under our new Sandbox programmers guidance (Taco), who’s amazing work you already experienced in the recent 0.5.4.3 release, the sandbox has been majorly expanded. Featuring old and new tools for creating sexy content with our games fuckable characters like the Scene Creator, allowing for setting up multiple scenes, creating a good base from which to build your lewd fantasies from. To test the flexibility of this, we have also started to work on oral interactions, but these are still very, very WIP. Here is the full new feature list:

We included a VIDEO TUTORIAL detailing the interactions with the Sandbox into the ZIP download containing the build. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you watch it to get a good grasp on these new features! Hot tip, its voiced by Yara our VA for Silica :3

Heyhey! Thanks for the feedback! We were actually wondering if the issue you experienced with mega could be a bug related to the filetype and download software itself. Have you by any chance used Chrome or Opera GX for downloading the game from mega? We are aware of an issue where these two browsers can identify a zip downloaded from mega as containing a virus even if thats not the case (we test our files before we upload them and also have multiple people in our team download builds before we ever share them online). Looking forward to hear back from you on this!

The down load for mega is filled with security bugs and was hacked straight away when i tried to install months ago. still unable to acesss the game content. i think the download process needs to be more professional and transparent as at the moment its not really clear how to access the content you are paying for and when you do follow your reccommended links it forces a complex, drawn out torrent software on you that doesnt just get hacked but had to be shut down altogether on my pc. surely there is a better way to do this ? this latest post for example has 3 separate links in it, none of which are explained in any detail. which one should i choose?, do i need all three ? what are they for ? how do i use them ? how do i install once i have down loaded them? are the links safe and secure to use ?

really well done, love the new features, im having a little issue with the cameras though.... dont know if it's just me but, i can't get CAM 1 or Cam2 to work

The house tour part at the start, then after the voice lines became "normal" and was not low volume.

There seems to be a small audio issue. The voice lines are at times lower than the background music and even changing a bit in the audio settings it did not change much. I had the settings on default, but it was almost the same even when changing music to 50.

When I click on melody.exe it says the c++ runtime is missing. I installed the latest runtime from microsoft.com and rebooted, but the message is still coming

Forgot to respond to this one! YES. All of the above is very valid feedback and we already are thinking about how we can make some of the suggestions above possible. That said it is very unlikely that the SLIDERS will come back but we aim to eventually have a more "plug n play" ready motion available to players that do not want to have to wiggle each individuals hip before getting playable actions from them.

I didn't know, there was a tutorial video for the sandbox but I did try using the sandbox in the main menu beforehand cause it didn't work in story mode.

Have you watched the Sandbox Tutorial Video included in the 5.5.0 and 5.5.1 build? Sandbox is best played from the main menu, as there are some issues with it in storymode. Thanks a lot for your feedback and support! <3

During the playthrough, I didn't see any bugs besides clothing phasing into the skin and Blairs arms going inside her (it was pretty funny) Also the sandbox mode didn't work to an extent, I could access the menu and spawn characters but that was about it and no positions menu or anything else. I am looking forward to the next patch.

Huge fan of all the new added features and redesign of sandbox. Personal preferences though, it would be nice to also access the old sliders for default movements. The click and move is neat, but is often too buggy or difficult to obtain the desired results. Additionally, being able to click positions and select characters rather than having to drag them into position would be much more convenient. The characters regularly get placed into the wrong spot or forcefully morphed into where they ended up. And lastly, I'd love to see the ability to use 2 of the same character rather than be forced to use 2 different ones each time. All in all, love the new update! Can't wait to see what's to come.
