In college, I worked as a barista and a janitor and that shit was a lot more intense than my academic jobs. Once I started having academic jobs I could never go back. I think after high school if you don’t like school/don’t know what you want to do, you should do all your gen eds cheap at a community college and then decide. For me, it was 2020 and school was an escape because I liked it and then I got into research (which led me to my current PhD program). I’m a first gen student tho and my mom had me at 20 which was super hard for her. Full 4 year college is not for everyone and I respect that but I think everyone needs to keep educating themself in some way
