Scuderia Sant Ambroeus is among the oldest privateer racing teams from Italy, running in multiple classes and series for over a decade during the golden era of racing. Naturally, being Italian, Alfa Romeo's were particularly prevalent within SSA's large and varied fleet of cars.
At the Monza 1000km in 1965, the first year of the now legendary event, car #26 started in 26th with Giancarlo Sala and Giorgio Pianta driving, sadly dropping out with an engine malfunction.
