Hello everyone,
Today I am very pleased to announce we (Team WSC) have joined forces with Nugget&Machina's Workshop on a new car, to hopefully be included in the WSC60's pack (or as a standalone addition): the 1966 Chaparral 2D.
Unlike fellow American manufacturer Ford, Jim Hall's Chaparral actually thought a little more about the design on their racing cars, instead of dumping a 7L V8 in the back and celebrating like they won every race after pumping 600 million USD into the program with multiple years of failures. The 2D was Jim Hall's answer to the Ferraris and thus reflects a sophisticated design, with proven aerodynamic & downforce generating modifications and "only" a 5.3L 327 V8 powering the small package. Despite the potent design and platform, the 2D/Jim Hall simply could not match the insane Ford GT programme for the 1966 season, with only a single win, albeit a legendary one, at the 1966 Nürburgring 1000km race.
The 3D model, beautifully done by Nugget, represents the car as it ran in the 1966 Nürburgring 1000km race. Aero setups can be changed so it suits Le Mans as well. It really is a fantastic collaboration and we're very happy to be able to deliver a scratch made, tris friendly version of this legendary racecar for AC this year.
