Ronnie Hoare, better known as "The Colonel", was one of the most prominent privateer in racing, owning the Maranello Concessionaires racing team up to 1966, which ran some of the most gorgeous Ferrari liveries of all time; red with Cambridge Blue accents. He also became one of the first privateer racing ventures to race a Ford GT40 P chassis.

In the Monza 1000km race of 1966, F. English (Ronnie Hoare) entered GT40 P/1002 with Innes Ireland and F1 star Chris Amon, qualifying 4th but sadly not finishing the race after an oil pipe got loose.
