12 Oras De Interlagos 1970 - Alfa Romeo T33/2 #33

For my new Alfa Romeo T33/2 mod, available today on Racedepartment!

A rare non-red T33/2 in period, imported to Brazil by FNM in 1968 and campaigned under FNM/Alfa Romeo Brazil in the hands of future F1 driver Carlos Pace. The car then ran under Jolly sponsorship in 1969 (an Alfa importer and domestic racing team), being dented up slightly and subsequently being shared with Equipe Transeuropa for 1970 - along with a respray to white with blue & red stripes.

The driver for the 1970 season would be Marivaldo Fernandes, a man with more money that knowledge on what it takes to drive racing cars, which became apparent at the Interlagos 12 hour race of 1970, where he heavily crashed the car.

Fernandes raced on for a little longer until he dropped the racing career in favor of becoming a pilot. In 1977 he ended up crashing his plane, killing all those aboard - including the first Brazilian driver of this T33/2; Carlos Pace.

Special thanks to my friend Jar for helping with the backstory and photo hunts!
