All Japan Championship Funabashi 1967 - Jaguar E-Type #11

For the GTC Jaguar E-Type Lightweight.

Ginji Yasuda may be one of the most interesting privateers from Japan's earliest post-war racing years. Born in Korea, his family fled the country following the invasion of North Korea and headed to Japan, where they took on the Yasuda family name. His father had considerable wealth from Korea, where he owned factories. After setting up this business in Japan, their son "Ginji" was able to enjoy all the luxuries of life. Before going racing, he was an Olympic clay shooter contestant, and even won medals in this sport.

He began racing in 1964, at the 2nd Japanese Grand Prix, driving his Jaguar XKE. He soon modified this Jaguar for 1965 and continued racing the car all the way to 1967 in the All Japan Championship. While frequently scoring points, he never managed to win any of the categories outright. Even in the original Japan Grand Prix series, he complained that the odds of privateers were severely unfavorable against the big factory backed racing teams.

Yasuda had a dark criminal side hustle, one which inevitably resulted in him fleeing Japan in 1969 and opening a... Casino in Las Vegas? If you want to find out how that ended, I recommend you searching for his name on Google.

This livery is from 2021, updated with BC1 export, new thumbnail and adjusted INI.
