Read of the Month: Citizen; An American Lyric

Hello all,

This is your regularly scheduled reminder that time is passing.

More specifically, since the Archive Highlight this month is a doozy, I thought I'd drop the Read of the Month a little early — especially since I can now reveal my special guest for the segment!

Courtney Lyneé is an actor, vocalist, voiceover artist, and director, and plays Citizen 2 in the New Light Theatre production of Citizen; An American Lyric. She is also I am the Director of Talent Relations and Marketing at Kaleidoscope Cultural Arts Collective, a Black Owned Theatre Company (501C3), and runs a social media takeover better than just about anyone I've ever seen.

The reading in this particular scene is an adaptation of one of my favorite excerpts of the book: a surprisingly moving passage about taking the empty seat next to a man on the train. Courtney's presentation of it blew me away on set, and so with her permission and that of New Light, I've arranged to share it with you here.

You can get your tickets for the streaming of Citizen; An American Lyric on the New Light Theatre Website, and follow Courtney on Facebook or Instagram @C_Lynee_C_Me.

Archive Highlight will be coming at the end of the week, and more exciting updates soon! Here's one for you now: The Telelibrary is a selection for the Denver Film Festival! If you or anyone you know is in Denver between November 3rd and 14th, they can book a special session on the website.

Thanks as always,

Yannick
