...And now we come to the part that is fast becoming a staple of my ENF work: the nude sprint. I've always been a fan of Mad Magazine and a certain style of cartooning that was spawned by its deep bench of fantastic humour artists: goofy art masters like Mort Drucker, Jack Davis, and Will Elder. In fact, Gina owes some of her DNA to the influence of "Little Annie Fanny", one of Elder's creations, on a young Legmuscle who discovered a cache of his dad's Playboys in the 70s. I also learned how decorate my ski lodge and make the perfect martini, but that's beside the point.
A common trope in that style of cartooning is something that can best be described as the "funny run." Legs pumping, toes either pointed downwards or angled up to a ridiculous degree, often in exaggerated dress shoes with long laces and droopy socks. The funny run always fascinated me, and I have spent untold hours trying to duplicate it in my own work. This page is the most recent example of that artistic journey.
