Added 2023-06-05 13:00:10 +0000 UTCPerhaps sensing that she may have lost some control over the situation, Laser Lass puts on her game face to confront Mondo Mongol, who is replenishing his mental energy at the Jumble Juice stand where she first saw him.
Emulating the intimidating stride of a manga character she closes in on him and charges up her laser powers as she orders him to stand down. Mondo, to her credit, does seem to be intimidated, but not as fazed as perhaps he should be. Does he still have a trick or two up his sleeve?
Yes, this is a Jojo reference. For those of you not familiar, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a popular, long running manga series that has been adapted into an anime, and even a live action movie. It's aptly named, as it's considered weird even by Japanese standards, and you know how those guys can be. The second panel on this page is my attempt to recreate a famous panel from the manga, hence the Japanese sound effects, which translate to: "Doh Doh Doh" and are meant to represent a rhythmic droning sound. I don't know why that is, like I said Japanese comics can be weird.
I became quite a big fan of Jojo over the pandemic when I watched quite a bit of the anime adaptation, hence why I decided to reference it. I know that not everyone will get the reference, though: hence this long explanation of its significance.

Thanks! For the low angle I was lucky enough to find a reference to draw from from The Pose Archives: one of those stock pose people on Deviantart. Lot of useful poses on there. The thicker lines around objects closer to the viewer is a classic tip from How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way, which is also a good reference in its own right. That slightly thicker outline around her right hand to make it project off the page in panel 3 is subtle but very effective. And that low angle in panel 2 is good too. Come for the nudity, stay for the illustration skill!
