Chris' story of his schoolmate who lost his foot to a shark dredged up an old school memory of mine. Had a high school acquaintance who was screwing around in a construction site after hours one night, climbing on the equipment. If I remember correctly, he slipped climbing on an excavator arm and his foot got trapped on the machine and twisted in the fall, completely destroying his ankle. It was so bad that the foot had to be amputated. Dude was pretty chill about the whole thing somehow, and would happily whip off the prosthetic and joke around with it whenever the opportunity arose.
