I think L.A. Noire is another title from that ere when games were open-world for no good reason. When I started playing it back in the day, I thought very early on that it should have just been a point-and-click adventure game. If it were made today, I think they could make it the same way they did then, just with modern mo-cap technology, and cut out all the sandbox faff.
