EXP Update - May 3rd 2025

Chris here, with another update from EXP HQ.

Here’s what you might have missed from the last month or so, and some exciting stuff to look forward to in the near future.

Thanks once again to each and every one of you, including all our newly arrived Patrons, for signing up and joining us as we try and make EXP viable long-term. As you may have seen in the news, it’s a tough time for games media-adjacent creators and teams right now, and your support here on Patreon is the one and only reason we’re able to make this content.

Just imagine if we never had the chance to make Jonathan make this face...

We’ve said it before, but it’s always worth repeating- we literally couldn’t do this without you all and your support. We really appreciate all the faith you’ve all shown, and we really hope you’ve been enjoying everything we’ve been putting together so far. More is on the way!

Community Creations Episode #1 - submissions open!

It’s time for the first edition of our Community Creations episodes! This is your chance to get something in front of the eyes of our experts.

Whether it's a fun scene from a movie, a cursed creation of your own design, or some particularly cool armour that took forever to unlock, we want to see it! Grab some gameplay, a screenshot or a link, and send it our way.

Annual Memberships available now!

We’re happy to say we can now offer Annual memberships on Patreon! We’ve had a few comments and messages about annual memberships over the past few months, and we’ve basically been waiting for Patreon to give us the green light.

Signing up to an Annual membership gets you a chunky 16% discount, which equates to roughly two free months of EXP each year compared to paying monthly. Nice! 

Production Meeting/Monthly Tech Travesty Stream next Friday 9th May

Absolute disaster.

Next Friday 9th May at 17:00BST/12:00ET/09:00PT, we will be hosting this month’s Production Meeting and trying our level best to iron out some of the technical quirks that made last month’s edition so bloody annoying/charming.

We’ll also be having a rifle through the selection of stuff we’ve been sent for the Community Episode, so you might be seeing some real-life reactions to your cursed/blessed/blursed submissions.

Once again let us know if you have any questions, or anything you’d like to hear about in the Production Meeting. Leave a comment under this post, and we’ll talk about it!

For anyone in the Extended Episode or VIP tiers, the monthly Production Meeting is an exclusive livestream, hosted on YouTube where the EXP team will spend some time talking through our plans for the next month or so of content, and field suggestions from you on what games and entertainment you think we should be covering.

100,000 Subscribers!

This was officially designated 'Bananas' in our EXP Executive Branch chat.

In case you missed it, last week EXP hit 100,000 subscribers on YouTube. We’re absolutely blown away that we’ve managed to hit that number this soon after launching. It feels great to have built such a big audience and community so soon into our journey as a channel, and we’ve already ordered our big shiny silver play button from YouTube - look out for that in the background of Dave’s shot some time soon.

But, since we’re talking rewards, it only feels right that you get something in return for your support too, right? Well, we’re happy to say that our long-requested episode on Valkyria Chronicles will be launching this month, and will be an Extended episode that we'll make available to all on YouTube and Patreon.

What’s next?

Our episodes covering the winner of our retro (ugh) Call of Duty poll are out now: Expert Reacts to Call of Duty: World at War is available in both Early Access and Extended flavours as usual - the Extended episode is another monster, clocking in at over an hour long!

Next week we’re doing something slightly different, covering a selection of games across a single franchise, specifically one that has a new addition coming soon. Any guesses?

If you’ve enjoyed our videos with Toby, then fear not - we have two more episodes with him coming soon, one of which will be with you towards the end of the month (if the Emperor wills it).

Alongside the Community Episode and the Valkyria Chronicles bonus episode, we hope you’ll agree that there’s plenty to look forward to.
