i love the nuance in this episode!! but yeah unfortunately i am on the side of while i see her side of this i do feel less than pleased about it but i do know a lot of it is influenced by my own feelings as someone who just came to terms with the fact that im a lesbian and not bisexual and knowing i wont be in a relationship that my family would prefer yk it is frustrating hearing her be scared about coming out that she likes men its just one of those things thats hard cause no one is really wrong but everyone’s feelings are valid…yknow??

2025-06-18 18:45:22 +0000 UTCI currently teach at the high school Fletcher attended, which is in a super conservative area, and I feel like that could also be playing into some of how she handles things. A couple years ago I was friendly with a teacher who had students writing an article about her for an assignment. Since he had known Cari when she went there and knew how involved she was with the musicals, he suggested the kids interview the choir teacher about her. When asked, the teacher said, “don’t ever ask me about her again.” I’ve also had pride posters ripped down from my classroom walls by custodians there, to the point where I had to get the superintendents office involved to make it stop (I kept printing them and putting them up each time though)! It’s just not a place where queer students feel safe even today, so I’m sure she struggles with having roots in that area. Also, a husband of one of my coworkers went to high school with her and said she definitely hooked up with guys in high school, so very much not a new thing for her. Regardless, my husband and I saw her at the Stone Pony a couple years ago and she was great!!
