I used to watch kristen’s tiktok’s with a sort of morbid fascination and I remember the moment I saw one where they were trying to list out all the different themes and motifs associated with ‘the movement’. it was several pages detailing dozens of motifs and I realized just how much the community had lost the plot

I really appreciate your insistence that the connections have to mean something to be valid. Bit of a tangent, but one of the things I remember most from high school literary analysis is that you can't just name literary devices, you have to explain why the author chose to use them to make it a valid analysis. In that same vein, all these artists referencing very common themes and phrases as far back as the noughties does not even vaguely point to anything without the theorist providing strong reasoning as to why they would choose to make those connections. I don't mean to insult Kristen, but to me this very much reads as QAnon for progressives.
