Paul Rudd is a perfectly nice person, im sure! Paul Rudd is also likely not well educated on international conflicts and politics, so i don’t care to hear his opinion on war on such a large platform.

2024-02-23 20:21:42 +0000 UTCi’ve said this before and i’ll say it again: Celebrities who are not educated in history & politics are the last people i want “speaking out” or playing advocate. She can put her money where it matters, and for all we know she already has. I don’t need Taylor, or Selena, or Katy, or Beyoncé to use their (maybe) high school education to tell me anything about what I should think. I don’t need them as advocates for something they don’t even understand. Most of the celebs and influencers people are asking to hear from have absolutely zero qualification to speak on things so serious. I think that’s largely why we’ve seen so many celebs who supported Israel early on and then had to backtrack it because they didn’t actually know anything about this decades-old issue. I don’t need Taylor to “speak out” on the election, or palestine, i need Taylor to continue to impact the spheres she inhabits. Nobody who has a large platform should speak on something like war unless they have qualifications to do so. A rich celebrity who only speaks because they’re being told to speak is not helpful. edit: i wanna add, in todays times of information illiteracy and misinformation, it is not enough for me that a public figure says “i’ve done x amount of research”, i am no longer confident in the average person’s ability to google something and choose a reliable source, and i trust celebs to do that even less.

2024-02-23 20:18:17 +0000 UTCOooh I have some background on the Post Malone choice. He actually spends quite a bit of time in Vegas and is friends with some of the locally connected business owners. Zack Bagan is one that comes to mind. He also just did the NYE concert for the Fountainbleau. As part of the site selection for the Superbowl, the NFL receives a lot of incentives which are funded through hotel/motel tax funds. In return, a local Superbowl committee is formed to work with the NFL for the event planning. Since the majority of the incentives come from the hotels, they get a big say especially if it's about things that will drive sales for their properties. Usher and Post Malone have current relationships with the hotels which is more than likely why they were selected. Also, the NFL does not pay the talent to perform for the game, so it was probably easier for them to agree to have Post Malone perform.

Most of the eras openers were queer so yes she aligned herself with queer artists, and perhaps that’s just because she wants ally points but I think it also means she’s using her own enormous influence to platform them! It is a symbiotic relationship!

It felt SO like a pr moment for her to align herself with and profit off of queer artists yet again? They looked so uncomfortable. And they were all wearing pins calling for a ceasefire, and for her to align herself with them following her not only deafening silence, but her still showing the eras movie in Tel Aviv, is on another level. I've been a fan since debut (and also live for you Cam and your takes) but I feel like the fantom is really becoming so desensitised to her cruelty and greed, because that's what it is at this point.

2024-02-22 16:47:21 +0000 UTCThe Super Bowl is literally an advertising event. Beyoncé teamed up with Verizon and released an ad/album announcement. Taylor did it at a black tie event (not the VMAs like Gaga) and overshadowed all other winners, Celine, Miley, etc. it was crass
