TTOS Behind the Scenes Log 1/26/2022

With the release of Episode 4 out of the way, I wanted to start something new! This will be a relatively common production log for Tedious Tales of Sodor, where I show off everything I've completed!

The first scene of Episode 5, "Strike!", opens with Sir Topham Hatt, sitting in his office, when the station master, Harry, enters, and informs him of the ongoing strike at Tidmouth sheds, and the rambunctious passengers.

I had one main idea on how to execute this, which would involve using the old MMM Knapford station- which has an office interior- to create the scene (Picture One). I downloaded some content off the DLS, including a chair, a book shelf, and a filing cabinet. Everything felt.. odd, though. The set was not only really tight, but Sir Topham felt off in the environment, due to SI3D models being slightly overscaled. It didn't help, either, that Sir Topham Hatt was supposed to be facing away from the platform, as to be oblivious to the passengers. But, with his current placement, he was facing right into the crowd

Enter Roblox Studio (Pictures Two - Four)! As I was trying to make the Knapford office work, the idea of green screening Sir Topham Hatt into a Roblox office crossed my mind. It was entirely experimental, and I honestly had no idea if it'd even work! I'd hardly worked with Roblox studio, but by the time I was finished, I was honestly really proud of it!

Fun fact, the office takes a major amount of inspiration from the unused office set from STONWR Episode 5 (Picture Five - Seven), which was ALSO titled "Strike!"

The set had blue walls placed around the windows, and I began to film... well, screenshot. A lot of these scenes required trial, error, masking, and a LOT of camera repositioning. I tried to get the Tidmouth Platform shot at least 20 times before I finally ended up with something satisfactory (Picture Eight).

Well, that wraps up just about everything that's been done so far on Episode 5. Not much, but we're on our way! Stay tuned for the next update! :)
