I read over one thousand chapters of One Piece because I could feel your passion in those videos. I read the entirety of Attack on Titan (and then watched the entire anime despite being mostly a manga reader) because of your passion in that video. I know this might be presumptuous to say as a an outsider, but I think even your watchers were able to feel that burnout of yours. I certainly was. Whenever I saw your channel uploading 30+-minute videos weekly, I always thought to myself "man, this can't be healthy - they can't be keeping this up forever". Also whenever one of your videos contained one of those "poor editor who'll have to edit this" jokes, they never actually read as jokes to me, but rather as cries for help. Maybe even as slightly abusive (to put it into harsh words). In some way, I felt a level of toxicity coming from those videos, kinda like you've put yourself and your team into some kind of hostage situation. (This is starting to sound a lot darker than I really intended). I've also definitely felt some kind of "converyer belt" energy coming from many of those weekly videos. I know this probably reads a bit harsh, and I don't necessarily mean it like that. I think all of those videos ultimately still turned out at least "solid". I simply see a bit of irony here: Just like you didn't enjoy making these videos very much, I didn't enjoy watching them as much. Just like you saw yourself forced to push out one video every week, I saw myself "obligated" to watch all of these weekly videos, just because "well, it's here, it's probably gonna be entertaining enough, and also I'm backing the channel, so it'd be a waste not to watch". Now don't get me wrong, I don't wanna make it sound like I had a bad time watching those videos. As I said, they were still always entertaining and often came at convenient enough times to cover what would've otherwise been a video drought for me. However, at the same time it was clear to me that these videos weren't exactly what I fell in love with your channel for, and there were times when I considered to stop supporting. The fact that you yourself have reflected on all of this and are now taking necessary steps to steer towards a different future is telling me everything I need: It's telling me that it was the right choice to stay your Patron, and it's telling me that I can be looking forward to your videos again. Next time you'll upload something to your channel - and I just know this - I will no longer have that reaction of "ah, cool, another Mark video", but rather a spark of actual excitement! Lots of love to you, your family and the entire team. Hope you can manage to get past the trauma and stay healthy! 🙏

You’re an Auteur in the Youtube space, which is difficult, but the gift comes with curses. You’re on a devastating precipice - you have my full heart and support in WHATEVER you do (you can’t be a Togashi acolyte without this attitude). I believe in YOU - your team is great and AMAZING, but your voice is your own. I’d pay for your long form content easily, and happy (and have been!) following weekly. I’m going to up here on Patreon. As a writer, and as a serious narratologist, I truly believe in your work and its influence. You are a creator I seriously admire and enjoy. Please keep going and lean into your passion - even if it means scary change! Also!
